We are in information age with octrillion of mobile phones, lap tops and I pads or tablets which becomes very easy to make recording of conversations and secrutining emails. You can't blame the government in any such of breach of privacy. It is the modernization which has made it possible for any privacy to be public. And government doesn't need to give even one cedi for a job to be done when any chinese phone possessed by a sixteen year JSS schoolboy can record a conversation by Yaw Osafo by his own NPP friend and later submit to NDC. No, don't blame the government on any breaching of privacy, blame it on modernization of our world society.

You claim hacking is not done in any civilized nation so I suppose you are saying these countries are not among the civilized nations. Now read:
US and British intelligence agencies hacked into a major manufacturer of Sim cards in order to steal codes that facilitate eavesdropping on mobiles, a US news website says.
The Intercept says the revelations came from US intelligence contractor turned whistleblower Edward Snowden.
The Dutch company allegedly targeted - Gemalto - says it is taking the allegations "very seriously".
It operates in 85 countries and has more than 40 manufacturing facilities.
The Intercept says that "the great Sim heist" gave US and British surveillance agencies "the potential to secretly monitor a large portion of the world's cellular communications, including both voice and data".
It says that among the clients of the Netherlands-based company are AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint and "some 450 wireless network providers around the world".
Full investigation
The Intercept alleges that the hack organised by Britain's GCHQ and the US National Security Agency (NSA) began in 2010, and was organised by operatives in the "Mobile Handset Exploitation Team". Neither agency has commented directly on the allegations.
However GCHQ reiterated that all its activities were "carried out in accordance with a strict legal and policy framework which ensures that our activities are authorised, necessary and proportionate".
I wonder whether this will make sense to you but there you are.

Oh, they're civilized, all right. But they've lost their CULTURE (if they ever had one at all and were not just pretending). Sacrificed on the altar of power and fear.

Nana Akomea, I am very disappointed in your call on BNI to investigate the claims by the two NDC officials or propagandists. It's almost tantamount to asking a thief to investigate crime of theft very close that same thief. As a seasoned politician, one time MP and minister, you ought to know that the BNI is part of the Executive arm of government and if the ruling party is invading the privacy of citizens, then, the party has the support of the Executive and probably being assisted by the BNI. So why ask the BNI to investigate such breaches of privacy when they could be involved?
I believe the appropriate body to investigate this matter is either the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights or Security (if there is one) or even CHRAJ, though CHRAJ has been discredited by scandals and inefficiency.
Moreover, by now you should also know all governments spy on their opponents and citizens, if certain individuals are of interest to them. This is not justify the breaches of citizens' rights. The other alternatives is for the individuals mentioned to bring civil claims against the NDC and the two officials who made the claims or complaint to the CHRAJ.

face it, Governments and Corporations nearly everywhere the world over have the means to spy on nearly everyone without limitations.
All the "values" - such as privacy, discretion and respect, that we were once taught at school, by our parents and elders are being derided and ever-so-gradually nullified by the naive likes of "jimmy" and the power-mongers, until one day they will be crushed by their own quasi-omnipotent totalitarian machine, if they don't repent.
The impunity with which the proponents of totalitarian surveillance act and even brag nowadays shows you who or what is really ruling our day and age.
