  Quite an objective expose' of the problem. It is therefore, high time institutions publish their loses at year end for the past three years and based on that also forecast towards the coming years and adopt strategies that will reduce cost. The immediate victim will be job lose.
  Everyone must get over the demonstrations which are important but after the demonstrations. Leaders should have come out with ideas for permament solutions, because at this stage blockout lasting more than say a month is already a "catastrophic event."
  Event government agencies like the National Development Planning Commission should have shifted into high gear on the matter and done the sort of analysis you are talking about.
  How about the Ghana Statistical Institute or Agency? They should all have been proactive in providing such numbers. The Ministry of Finance, Bank of Ghana should have been able to provide this costs.
  Are we suprised about the rate of inflation today, the fast deteriorating exchange rate, these are all pointers to the dysmal power supply sector.
  Talking about actuaries would incur heavy loses too and certainly mutinationals are reaping benefits whose effect is like defrauding the economy. They will not let go because they certainly will ensure against that.
  The only state agency SIC is going to be paying all those loses to businesses and pensioners savings will be affected because they can not be paid. And so on and so forth.
  How about investors, the geniune one would rather not come and the risk takers will invest but al sd o insure themselves heavily against power outage loses. In the long run the economy suffers. This has been reflected in the growth rates in the past three years and shows a worrying trend.

  We all live in hope that a strong corrupt leader will emerge with the will and foresight to understand that the way forward for Ghana is to put in place a reliable efficient electric power source network. Then the country would really take off. But don.t forget the little people also badly disrupted/effected in their every day lives and work not to mention their not inconsiderable loss of revenue also over the years.
