  It's not true that Duncan was building a young team at Hearts. His interest in the old men - the likes of Obuor, Bugri and Bissue - and dislike for the young ones - the likes of Ollenu, Acquah, Isaac Mensah, Sabahn, Sadat,Taufic - was at the root of his problems with the Hearts board.
  
  The traditional clubs have one thing in common - the absence of clear ownership and its involvement in or control of management. This has created conflict of interest among management, many of whom have objectives that are in conflict with those of the clubs they manage. This has been the real problem at the so-called traditional clubs.
  
  At Hearts for instance, management and board members used to own players, the latest being the ownership of Mahatma Otoo by the likes of Ashford, who was Administrative Manager. Such conflict of interest does not exist in the new (non-traditonal) clubs. This is precisely why they are doing well. It is not because they have better managers or finances. The stability of their management is also down to the absence of the conflict of interest that creates infighting.
  
  This is why I am happy about the changes taking place in Hearts. It is about time the old guards who benefitted from the old system allow Hearts to reap the benefits of positive change.
  
  Hearts main problem currently is the disruptive work of these old guards that is undermining the work of the new leadership of Hearts. These same people tried to capitalise on the sacking of Duncan to create instability that they turned round to blame on the board. They made it difficult for Polo to do his work. But I believe the I the long run, good will triumph over evil.
  
  The other traditional clubs must follow the example of Hearts to ensure congruence between club, ownership and management objectives.

  None of the teams is run as a Professional sporting team. Management see it as a way of making money. No marketing strategies, just trading best players and thus no continuity.

  The writer often times has allowed his personal sentiments to get the better part of him resulting in some poor analysis. he is unable to hide his hatred for the board chairman of hearts of oak. lets give credits to the lesser known clubs.generally, traditional clubs all over africa are struggling or are even defunct or have been taken over. englebert, hafia, canon, union doaula, enugu rangers, iicc shooting stars, stationery stores, dzarrafs, belima, cara,.......

  Traditional clubs must change - ownership structure, management, etc. Dishonest people must not be allowed to milk them, pretending to be helping them. This situation can't be sustained at a time players and coaches have to be paid.
  
  I believe Hearrs would have been doomed if Togbe and his team had not stepped in. The old approach must give way to the new, simple!

  Good submission, but it looks incomplete nothing has been said about jimmy corbblah's WA all stars who have provided two players for each of our junior National teams including the home based snr National team.

  have you forgotten how players like nathaniel asamoah had a smooth transfer to kotoko then the next moment sold out? have forgotten nyantakyi was accused of konkonsa to asante hene and the fall out with kotoko management and the way he nyantakyi used the media to kill kk sarpongs and baah nuako's potential interest in gfa. after killing all potentials, is he not bragging now that he want competitors?
