"When I was in school, we had Muslims who had to pray with us and do everything we had to do. Some are saying that we have co-existed for many years without problems. Sure we have on our terms. We had colonial rule and we existed peacefully for many years until it wasn't ok to live under colonial rule any longer. Our Independence started with demonstrations. Today, we have had the first shot: the Muslims have demonstrated in the Western Region. We can choose to ignore it and advocate that we go back to the way things were until it blows up in our faces or we can confront the issue now"
Amen!

I wholeheartedly support What Nana Addo said. Since when did we as a nation went to court to established equilibrium on religious rights. This is natural, when goes to Rome you do what roman's do.

You say you don't want Akufo Addo to warn politicians not to debate religion?
My good friend, if you think it is only Christians who are being re-evangelized, you live in a cassock.

All over the world, Muslim militancy is rearing its ugly head, and if you want it to explode into violence, then incite it by enforcing stupid old laws.
Has it ever occurred to you to find out why Muslims do not urge Christians to go into their mosques?
Let us separate religion from education. The Catholics need Governmental approval for their schools. In reciprocity, they must also agree not to push religion into the throats of those who don't want it.
Akurfo Addo realises that not much rationality is applied to religious debates. That is why he is asking Ghanaians to refrain from engaging in it. What don't you understand about inflamed passions caused by ultra-religious bigotry? You are a Catholic, so what? Have you heard of the religious wars that occurred within the Catholic Church in Europe? Even Europeans have stopped being fanatical, and you want fanaticism in Ghana?

Muslims should always sow good seeds to bear good fruit. If they invest in Mecca they will only reap titles like Alhaji and Hajia and they would not have enough money to build good quality schools for their children and the end result is that a lot of their youth will end up in prison and a sizeable number will become Kayayes as is currently the case in Ghana. Muslims should also learn to sacrifice a bit to pay their zakat instead of the usual beggarly mentality. I know of a prominent Islamic scholar in West Africa, not Ghana, who vowed never to wear Babanriga( Batakari or parachute apparel) since he claimed it is a waste because the number of yards of fabric that go into one set of Batakari is enough to provide for many needy persons. This is what we call religion from the heart and not that of titles and accolades.
What about the case of Ahmadis? They are the only Muslim sect in Ghana that has the largest number of schools and health facilities in Ghana yet their minority in terms of Muslim population in Ghana and the reason is because Ahmadis don't go to Mecca and so they invest heavily in social infrastructure for the common good.

Who stopped Muslims from building their own schools. If they are true Muslims they should sacrifice to build good schools with their Mecca money so that government will fund them. The fact is that Muslims erroneously see the mission schools as a threat to the spread of Islam but they refuse to know that what they are fighting for will eventually lead to the monumental growth of the Scripture Union( Since SU don't need space and time to practice their faith), Occultism( which will be more attractive to Muslim youth like SAKAWA) and Religious strife( since Muslims will like to use unorthodox means to suppress the spread of Pentecostalism in Muslim schools).
