The article itself says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It doesn't identify the causes of any problems, it doesn't apportion any blames, it doesn't even make any recommendations and certainly doesn't reveal any new information (he is not even exactly sure of what he read in an article that he makes reference to).
You will think the last paragraph will leave you with some thoughts as you raise your eyes off the reading. It does nothing like that.
I don't see the purpose of the article at all. This further confirms by belief that Okoampa often writes for the sake of writing.

Look, Sarp, there are tension between the Sunnis and the Shia Muslims which at times, end in blood shed so, if Muslims cannot get along with Christians in Ghana, I don't see any problem with that. Morning devotion is not a recipe for conversion into Christianity. How many Muslims have converted since they started attending Mission schools in Ghana? Do you have any figure? Don't forget that maybe there is some foreign influence behind this brouhaha and the finger points to Turkey. Mahama is getting to close to them for some unknown reasons and who knows what they are expecting him concerning the Muslims in Ghana. Yes, it is understandable that the government has taken full control of the mission school but what did was done to the rules and regulations that was instituted by the mission before the take-over? Merely paying teacher etc, is not enough to side-step the principles that had been a light of these school since its inception.
Why is the European Community dragging her feet to grant full membership to Turkey? It is due to her large Muslims population. I will not rule out foreign interference about what is going on in Ghana.

Pelicles, why do you think Moslems should attend morning devotions conducted under Christianity banner?
If you find yourself in a country with a Moslem majority and they force you to join their moslem prayers, how will you feel? Sometimes in order to make correct decisions, we have to put ourselves in the other person's shoes.
The Moslems have shia and sunni conflict is not a reason to force them to join Christian worship.
To answer your question as how many Moslems have changed religion after attending morning devotions, that is not the point here. The point is that they are not Christians and should not be forced to participate in a religious festivities they don't believe in.
I wouldn't like it if I am forced to attend Moslem devotions and they should not be forced either.

Mr. pelicles, if i may quote you "if Muslims cannot get along with Christians in Ghana.I don't see any problem with that".
Ghana as a country is not for any of the parties( Muslims,Christians)and so both have equal rights in the constitutional interpretation.Muslims never stated that they would not go along with any christian but if there is any you can refer me,but some Christians in this matter are not going along the constitution of the Country which frowns the act of forcing somebody to anything of religion contrary to the person(s)faith.
Also, if there is not, so to put it any Muslim ever converting to Christianity as a result of the person attending a christian mission school, should that stop Muslims when they asked why they are forced to attend christian congregations?
To remind u further, if the president is getting closer to the Turks it might be as you are also in doubt a reason of aid which perhaps is coming to benefit all not only Muslims. Turkey if you don't know is of both Christians and Muslims and even other faiths. But be it as it may if some section of Turks who are Muslims wish to send aid to Muslims in Ghana through the government what is wrong with that ? isn't the president representing both the Muslims and Christians etc ? Did any Muslim raise concern as to why the President paid a visit to the pope ?.
Issues relating to Muslim-Muslim (shia and Sunni)is out of context of the original article. But if you so wish to be talking of Muslims issues especially disturbances, remember there are same in almost all faiths especially the two (Islam and Christianity)."The only thing new in this world is the history you do not know" said Truman.
Finally i wll employ you any other person to be concern of any issue that may trigger disturbance in the country that of course wll make you a peace loving citizen and a true patriot of the nation Ghana.
Let us all be like the right rev.Prof of the Peace Counsel and Shaikh Nuhu Shaributu both of which are exemplary leaders of the christian-Muslim community respectively.

Pelicles, I bet there's something definitely wrong with forcing a Muslim to take part in a christian religious activity; and vice versa. Morning devotion in a Mission school is christian in character and very much at variance with practices in the Muslim faith; Hence forcing a Muslim to worship the christian way which may even be viewed within his faith as an anathema would definitely amount to trampling on his religious rights. During my days as a student in a very famous Mission school in Ghana Muslims were never forced to attend any Christan devotional services be it in the morning, evening or on Sundays. School policy, however, made it imperative for Muslim students to always be in the vicinity of Morning devotion so that they could readily mingle with the rest of the student body soon after the service to hear the day's announcements. This worked out just fine and there were no hard feelings.

To be frank with you, I am a Muslim from northern Ghana, the greatest accomplishment created by our first President, Dr. Kwame Nk. was fostering and building an exceptional relationship between Muslims and Christians across all the ethnic divide. My best friends are Christians both from Ghana and Nigeria. Even though as a Muslim, I don't believe in our young women wearing hijabs and my children don't wear hijabs but I don't agree school authorities have the right to prevent or exclude young Muslim women from registering for an examination on the pretext they have to remove their hijabs. That is stupid. You are a smart man and I believe you can work towards piece and co-existence between Muslims and Christian by advising authorities to back off interfering with others religious practices. We don't need that in Ghana.
To a great extent, the Muslim community has contributed a lot towards peace in Ghana. I remembered while a young Muslim from primary school to college, I had to recite the Christian scriptures without any complain, can you tell me where in the world this be tolerated? But for fostering peace and harmony, the Ghanaian Muslim never complained; but if for the first time, these type of complains are emerging, may be, it will do everyone a great deal to listen to these complains and be respectful to other peoples’ religion. Once again and I can guarantee you, no matter outside influences, the Ghanaian Muslim and Christian will co-exist in peace and harmony. Ghanaians are smart people and we all understand what is going on in Nigeria, Central Africa Republic and to some extend, Ivory Coast.

Mahama(a Gonja) is following the prescriptions of OIC.You remember an MP from Gonjaland declared that adulterous women should be stoned to death. Again Boko Haram in Akyem terrorized Muslim women for buying food from Christians yet the IGP(a Gonja Muslim) kept mute. Muslims burnt down a Christian mission house in Atebubu yet the IGP was again silent. AMA banning churches in classrooms, Northern Regional Minister accusing the Christian clergy of encouraging politicians to be corrupt. These are all plans aimed at suppressing Christianity to please the OIC. These are all indicators that Mahama is feverishly handing over Ghana to the Organisation of Islamic Conference for Money. We should remember Islam is useless without direct state support and so Mahama is providing that support to Muslims to grow in Ghana whilst at the same time suppressing Christians.

If they the muslims have divisions among themselves, as to which of the practices is the best, how much more would they not attack christianity? How often have we not heard of Shias and sunnis fighting and killing themselves? How often have we not heard that when it comes to the killing of christians, they come together to do the killing and after, fight among themselves. Just look at What happened in Pakistan on Sunday when christians worshiping in church were murdered in cold blood, because Mohammed said they should do that and go to heaven. The true is that, Islam is a violent religion that must be kept under check. Let us not decieve ourselves at all. We have not forgoten how they forced and coerced people to become part of that cult. And woe betide you if you attempt to renouce it. I have lived and worked in a conservative muslim country for decades and know what am talking about. There are people behind what they are trying to import to Ghana. After all, we have muslims brothers and sisters among us for generations without no problems. Why now? Those Arabs and persian countries that came under the pretence of charity should be carefully watched. Why are they not helping their own muslims who are more beggers than any other religion on earth? We need to be very careful. Their aim is to make Ghana a dominant muslim country. That is why the law must be applied firmly as regards religious rights without politics coming into play. Akufo Addo, as usual, is a hypocrite always hiding behind issues of such nature .Did I hear him said, the government should not have commented on this issues? Such characters. Because of political power.Sadly, he will never have it.

Muslims should always sow good seeds to bear good fruit. If they invest in Mecca they will only reap titles like Alhaji and Hajia and they would not have enough money to build good quality schools for their children and the end result is that a lot of their youth will end up in prison and a sizeable number will become Kayayes as is currently the case in Ghana. Muslims should also learn to sacrifice a bit to pay their zakat instead of the usual beggarly mentality. I know of a prominent Islamic scholar in West Africa, not Ghana, who vowed never to wear Babanriga( Batakari or parachute apparel) since he claimed it is a waste because the number of yards of fabric that go into one set of Batakari is enough to provide for many needy persons. This is what we call religion from the heart and not that of titles and accolades.
You just consider the Ahmedis, they are a minority of all Muslim sects in Ghana yet they have the highest number of educational and health institutions in Ghana. The question is, why is it so and the answer is simple; Ahmadis don't go to Mecca and so they invest their money into the building of good quality institutions for the general good. This is what the generality of Muslims must learn from and stop trying to reap from where they never sowed.

Okoampa-Ahoofe asserts that Muslims are unnecessarily creating tension with Christians. Is it true or false? Okoampa has given examples to support his assertion. Perhaps, he forgot to add the latest development at Atebubu in the Brong Ahafo Region where Muslim some youth took the law into their hands to demolish the residence of the SDA Pastor and other structures. In fact, reports indicated that they (Muslim youth) used guns to confront the police in the chaos. Incidentally, this occurred around the period that Muslims in the western region went on demonstration against the so-called discrimination by Christian institution, which received presidential endorsement from President Mahama in SONA. Interestingly, the President never saw anything wrong with the rampage of the Muslim youth in Atebubu!!!!
