He should have allowed ex VP Aliu Mahama to win the presidency "one touch" for the party in 2008 and after selfishly tried on two occasion, he should have been gracious to the party and smart enough to let Alan have his chance in 2012. Ghana will suffer under Akuffo Addo's "yenti gyae" NPP faction which has been hijacked by drug barons!

First, what is basically the general thrust of this decision? What purpose does it serve? Does it inure to the benefit of the party? If strictly adhered to, what would be the advantages or disadvantages? Does the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and vice versa? Is it doable, in other words is it democratic, does it have popular support within the party and does it meet an identified need? If it is not popular why is it so, and are there are any counter-arguments to convince the rank and file of the party, sympathizers and those sitting on the fence, as to what exactly, this decision seeks to achieve? And does it bring in the numbers because at the end of the day, politics is about numbers. It has always been, and it will always be about the numbers.
The decision to engender and ensure inclusiveness and participation could be tackled on a number of different fronts without necessarily creating such a storm in a tea cup, which to all intents and purposes is really, exactly that, a needless storm in a tea cup.
This is a non-issue and infinitely, there are quite a lot of ways to address the issue of inclusiveness and participation in the democratic process.
Currently all this hullabaloo is much ado about nothing. It is what some will describe as unnecessary and unwarranted, needless drama.
NPP should get it's big boy pants on and quash this matter and concentrate on getting the job of assuming the mantle of leadership and governance of this country done, and fixing the collapsed and stagnant state of this country.
A word of caution to the NPP though, is for the party not to count it's chickens before they hatch.
The 2016 elections is by far not a done deal at all, and if anything at all, it promises to be one of the most difficult elections ever for the NPP.
The agitations, pushing and shoving to as it were, share the spoils of 'war' is going to be a fanciful mirage until NPP puts in the very difficult and very hard job of first winning the elections, and that should inform and dictate some of these decisions coming from the party.
2016 is a difficult election and NPP needs to sit up, think and strategize very well. It could mean looking at the good things their main contender the NDC party and a few other parties have done with respect to inclusion and participation, pick ideas and strategize and come with a plan that ensures a win-win situation not just for the NPP party itself, but factors in the other opposition parties in terms of inclusion and participation. There is a bigger picture and NPP needs to keep it's eyes on the ball. In the interim it would help for cooler heads and voices to prevail to give thought to these matters.

NPP should stop this or lose the 2016 Election. It will wreck NPP's chances. The party's NEC and the leadership should know fully well the outrage it will cause among the grassroots/party activists and prospective male candidates, especially those who have contributed massively to the party.
Of course, it is important that our national and party politics do have a good representation of women. However, not only is NPP's NEC idea a poor piece of politics and bad party management, but also a 'sexist' political suicide mission. This is like picking a fight with the grassroots.
Even in the UK, this "Affirmative Action" of All-Women Shortlists and Prescriptive quotas have always been and remain hugely controversial. The It disenfranchises men, antagonises the grassroots and imposes candidates on certain constituencies.
One has to ask where this sort of "Affirmative Action" will lead : All-Northerners Shortlists in Kumasi Metropolis to solve NPP's image problems? All-Disabled Shortlists? All-Christian Shortlists? All-Muslim Shortlists? All MPs and prospective candidates of both sexes should be picked on MERIT, not on their gender.
Personally, am tempted to think that advocating this so-called "Affirmative Action" revolves around cliquey and sexual interests rather than the make believe to project women in NPP and promote women representation in our national politics.
