  Central University College (CUC) cannot serve 2 masters in this case.
  
  It may be an "endowed chair"!
  
  It may be an "academic chair"!
  
  But, it cannot be a non-partisan chair, with Bawumia as the chief!

  ITEM: It is a smelly, partisan chair.
  This problem is analogous to persons in OccupyGhana who have waded into partisan politics. OccupyGhana should wish them well and cut all links with those individuals.
  
  Just the business, folks!
  
  An endowed chair goes to the person, after they retire from active politics, if they expect people to view them as "objective, non-partisan".
  
  Therefore, Central University College (CUC) has made a major mistake, we dare say!

  Loss of objectivity cannot solve any problem and partisan analysis is a dangerous starting point. An academic chair holder must have independent judgement and Dr Bawumia's presentations are far from that and he is the wrong scholar for the chair, save to advance his partisan political ambition.

  It is incontrovertible that most endowed chairs do come with undesirable baggage if not outright intellectual dishonesty. No one can name an endowed chair or post funded by corporate interest or by a rich (irrespective of money sources) family that saw the occupant assail either the inhumane or unethical activities of the corporation or the family that funds the endowment. And so it is that the Central University College is not only an institution that is every bit an institution not worth a hill of beans if with all of its so-called administrators with intellect would agree to the creation of an endowed chair that has partisan politics written all over it not to mention a lack of meaningful contribution to the progress of Ghana by the very Ofori-Atta dynasty.
  The Ofori-Atta clan cannot dodge facts they conspired with others to make Ghana unstable under Nkrumah neither can they be civil and intellectually honest with anyone, with brains that is, that Ghana is better off today with all of it's dumsor, bribery and corruption not to mention that many parts of Ghana's economic activities are in the hands of invading foreigners even while the mineral and natural resources of the nation is stripped for good in Nkrumah's absence. The only thing Ghana can show for the damage caused as a result of the 1966 coup orchestrated by some in the Ofori-Atta clan is delusional freedoms that in unable to sustain a viable and progressive Ghana but has rather fueled unprecedented exodus from these shores its citizens to seek better lives outside Ghana even if we get paid for being new kinds of slaves, humiliated for being African migrants and acquired classroom knowledge that has not helped Ghana despite the chatter noise those educated bring home to bear. In the USA and across Europe has it not been activities of the respective central bank system which spurs growth or curb negative economic results? Since the self proclaimed economic savior Dr. Bawumia served at the Bank of Ghana why has there not been vestiges of best practices and procedures for other occupants to follow? Yet this hot-air blowing Dr. Bawumia has become the flagship of the NPP and an endowed chair person lecturing Ghana on good economic governance; go figure.

  Process improvements and re-alignments of business enterprises to more effectively serve and render more accountable are the hallmarks of true leaders in this knowledge and information age.
  
  Where, we ask, are the Bawumia results?
  
  So, instead, the other day, we were pointlessly debating whether data issued by the Statistical Services were precise enough, compared to data issued by the Min. of Agric., for different purposes.
  
  And to keep the so-called endowed Chair information outside the debate about the data!
  
  Well, well, well!
  
  That is a lot of "Bawumia hot air"!

Universities have the prerogative who they appoint to occupy an endowed chair. if in the eyes of CUC economic public education matters so highly in its contribution to do the public good, then so be it. What is at risk are both the Universities and the occupant's reputation. With our universities so incapable of stimulating public discourse on anything because of they themselves are so deep in tribal and ethnic politics, CUC has taken a bold step, and people like you can sit and whine all you want. I will be worried if Bawumia's presentations are not factual and objective, and is not contributing to public education. No one from Cape Coast, Legon or KNUST has been able to put together a coherent counter presentation to refute or challenge his observations. Are you afraid of the truth? CUC can terminate the chair at any time at its own prerogative. And if you are that good they may invite you for the post.
