Unlike Nkrumah, Lee Kwaun Yew after independence still allowed the colonial Masters to hold on to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defence Ministry and had a cordial relationship with the colonial masters including USA and pursued the capitalistic economic policies unlike Nkrumah who opted to pursue socialist policies which only works in hell where they already have it.

Lee never encountered the destructive opposition who were in bed with the CIA to undermine Dr. Nkrumah in all fronts. Lee benefited tremendously from the Chinese cultural revolution which pushed the rich and the educated elite to Singapore as a haven to hide their wealth. Even Lee himself admitted that luck and the willingness of the people to build their country by themselves for themselves for his success possible. So, Lee did not suffer the terribly violent Opposition Nkrumah had to contend with. The savagery unleashed on Nkrumah began even before Ghana became a Republic. Nkrumah was both physically and politically undermined from the very beginning.

Had Lee met similar disruptions from within and without as Nkrumah did, Lee would not have achieved what he achieved. Lee, himself did say that he needed to instil that much discipline in his Country to ensure his success, when asked about how he felt about his critics' denounciation of his dictatorship.

More, while the West promoted Lee and supported his programs, it sabotaged Nkrumah's .Nkrumah only threw himself unto the Russians as a last resort for some security. He was deeply non-aligned and his Socialism was no different from that of the Scandinavian countries. Yet, that was all his enemies needed to paint him a dangerous Commie to justify his overthrow, just as the West branded Martin Luther King Jr.

So, please, temper your hatred for Nkrumah with some modicum of veritable factual analysis. One does not have to be a Nkrumahist to acknowledge the trutful plot to sabotage Ghana's success under Nkrumah and wish him terminated.

The fact of the matter, though, is that Mr.Kwame Nkrumah was no more visionary than the great men and women who invited the hitherto stranded and cash-strapped London sojourner to come down to the erstwhile Gold Coast to lend his purported organizational skills, largely, to the ongoing Ghanaian and African liberation struggle.

In order to dispel or explode this shrouded tall tale about Danquah one has to know the man Danquah. This man was a complete failure and loser in all spheres of life. The UGCC Boys club was given wings to fly only when Nkrumah, who prior to his invitation never met with any of the UGCC members with the exception of Ako Adjei, stepped in 4 months after it was founded by Paa Grant in Saltpond, Aug 1947. Paa Grant was the president of the UGCC. Danquah had the position of a vice-president. As always Danquah played the second fiddle. Without Nkrumah's skill that UGCC boys club would never have attianed the status of a full fledged party. This lazy mind Danquah will always remain a footnote whenever Nkrumah's name is mentioned. His first wife jumped ship to join the CPP in 1951 elections. Danquah and the other four only get prominence when their names are mentioned with Nkrumah. Otherwise they would have all sank into oblivion. Danquah's fame faded already in the 50's and that was why Ghanaians in the then Gold Coast rejected him in 1954 and 1956 in a back to back elections. The masses loved Nkrumah because they could not by any Stretch of Imagination see Danquah lead them.

But what is even more true to underscore is the fact that from the get-go, as New Yorkers are wont to say, Kwame Nkrumah was intent on promoting the African-American Agenda of Pan-Africanism which, in of itself, was not a bad idea or agenda at all, except that it was diametrically at variance with the direction in which the overwhelming majority of Ghanaians wanted to go - which was to dedicate the bulk of their nation's resources to making life as livable in ways that their British colonial overlords had either denied them or totally not been interested in.

Nana Ansah: How can Ghanaians live in abundance and feast when their neighbours are still under colonial bondage? And this fool would like to compare Danquah to Nkrumah?! What we need to make clear is the fact that we know that there is hardly a Danquah follower who did not know that Danquah was a CIA agent, even though they would vehemently deny it in public, just as Danquah himself did in his time. The only hitch this time is that both in terms of content and author, they are finding it impossible to challenge Richard Mahoney's assertions that J. B. Danquah's family received CIA stipends when he was in prison. We are dealing with people who would ask you for the receipts to prove that the CIA was paying any money to Danquah. He recently used some unspeakable perverted language to attack President Kufuor's marriage, and, along with that, grossly insulted the President, his wife, and his wife's Uncle, the Hon. J. H. Mensah. And why?, you may ask. All in the name of chastising others in the NPP leadership who he perceives as not supporting his Uncle and the twice defeated, lifetime Presidential aspirant, Akufo-Addo. He was targeting Alan Kyeremateng's faction of the NPP, rampaging over the likes of Kwadwo Mpiani and Dr. Anane, as well.

Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr. stooped so low as to refer to the private intimate love-making of the former President and his wife in a grotesque manner. In fact, it is only on this Medium that he could get away with such crude and ignobly uncouth behavior.

And yet, because we are somehow mesmerized by his high eloquence in the Queen's Language, to which we so often wrongly associate a certain pre-eminence to the speaker, we tend not to take him to task on that kind of impropriety.

Many of us seem to be scared to strongly protest his intimidation with obscure English verbiage. But in the end, his behavior contributes in no small measure to turn a chunk of the electorate away from his Uncle's campaign.

I wish he would learn greater wisdom commensurate with his age and social status as a Professor of a reputable College in the USA.

Nkrumah did his best but he has a unique opportunity no other head of state of Ghana have ever had, you have to look at it in that context. Second, Ghana an undeveloped country emerging from total neglect of a colonial power, needed a leader who would concentrate fully on the development of the country with all the resources available- like Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore, who focused all his attention only on his country. He is very right and this is exactly my point, which is that we have never been matured enough to govern ourselves ever since we severed our links to our colonial masters. It is like a child playing with fire, you who are experienced know very well it will soon burn itself.

This is where Nkrumah comes in. Was there a prize to be won for the first black African country that became independent? Where is Ghana's prize, is it what we currently have or is it what South Africa has? Which of these two is the envy of fellow African countries and is described as the most advanced country in Africa? By rallying the uneducated masses to a populist theme, was Nkrumah after Ghana's interest or his own agenda? Give it to the man to think on a grandiose level, something I'm reminded of any time I drive on the motorway, but he soon forgot his humble beginnings and got distracted by his unachievable Pan African dreams. Not only that, he also became bedfellows with America's arch enemies, the Soviet bloc and it's satellite socialist countries. The worst of it was he kept lambasting the west on top of it all. He should have played the geopolitical field like Lee did for Malaysia and kept his head low. If he had done that we would be way ahead by now.

Yet, the West never called him out on his insistence on denying his country Democracy. But they made Nkrumah a monster for reacting to the many violent attempts by the opposition to depose, and even kill him.

You see typical Ghanaian enemies never concedes error or defeat. When you knock them down in a duel, they claim they simply tripped on their own. When they winch from some pain you inflicted upon them in the duel, they claim you did not cause that pain but they were bitten by some bug. They see more defeat in the admission of their loss in a contest than losing the contest itself.

It is risibly ironic that the author, who is an avowed lifelong nemesis of Nkrumah's shamelessly assigns mere foolhardiness to all who would oppose his fictional defamatory characterization of Nkrumah. His obsession with denigration of Nkrumah leaves no thinking space in his brain to accommodate any wiser and true testimony for the late President.

The extent to which he and his cohorts like the disgruntled Political Science Professor, Amoako Baah, would reach to smear Nkrumah has no limit. But the more they work to tarnish Nkrumah's image, the more they expose their own paucity of credibility.

We must now know by Amoako Baah's own recent remarks that his anti-Nkrumah barrage is all part of his quest for some partisan high office in the envisaged NPP post-Mahama Administration. Typically of his ilk, he has to show how hugely pernicious he could be in destroying everything Nkrumah to earn the attention he expects from Akufo-Addo.

But every fair-minded discerning Ghanaian must simply dump his putrescent effusions in the dumpster where it belongs. I wonder what he teaches the students at KNUST.

We need not be Nkrumahists to stand up to these horribly hateful Professors with a mission to replace Nkrumah's national pre-eminence with an inflated Danquah's. Much of their driving zeal to destroy Nkrumah posthumously stems from sheer envy.

For me, I think its high time Ghanaweb includes some censorship in here. I find it difficult to understand why people will choose very insulting words to get their views heard. I will be happy to see people criticising or commenting on articles/stories etc with words devoid of insults, etc because in the end, a very constructive argument with such words only taints the good side with a negative outlook. I believe we can all do this. Lets begin from now as the people who come to read the news out here includes kids among others who are learning for today and tomorrow.
