  The Rawlings 1992 constitution of Ghana needs to be amended because it's flawed. It puts too much power in the hands of the executive but if this president truly loves Ghana more than he loves being president then the wisest ...

  The Rawlings 1992 constitution of Ghana needs to be amended because it's flawed. It puts too much power in the hands of the executive but if this president truly loves Ghana more than he loves being president then the wisest thing for him to do is to listen to what the people need before he appoints the next electoral commissioner to replace Dr Afari Gyan. The new commissioner must be without blemish, unaffiliated to any political party , independent minded, a man or woman of great moral strength who will be completely fair to every one. With the immediate past ugly voting experiences in mind it is prudent that the president understands what kind of person the people want before he appoints the next Electoral Commissioner.
  There are worrisome indications that the NDC doesn't appreciate a level playing field for all competitors in the electoral process.All the political parties except the NDC are asking for a new voters register because the existing one with about 47 per cent of registered voters is unrealistic. Shouldn't the voice of the majority determine what's to be done to the voters register instead of yielding to the demands of just one party out of many? We went too close to the precipice and missed falling over by the skin of our teeth.
  The president also does not play by fair rules as he has more than adequately demonstrated through his ministerial and other appointments. They are not based on merit and regional balance and national unity . About 90 per cent of presidential appointees are from either the North or the Volta and all are NDC faithfuls. This is why people can't trust the president with fairness in making any appointments. To the people it's once bitten twice shy but to the president it's the winner takes all principle. Why should people trust him? He has to show it and if he doesn't there is going to be a huge national crisis never seen before.
