Amoako Baah is no different from Ahoofe,Kobina Kennedy and Sarfo.These folks masquerade as intellectuals and engage in highfalutin and useless talk.If you put them in small leadership positions,they would shit in their pants - not knowing what to do - much more rule a country.They are armchair critics,later-day revisionists, as well as ethnocentric pseudo-intellectuals.

They're full of hot air,can't think critically themselves or have a vision or plan for improving society.As such,they constantly dwell on what was - who did not do things right,rather than how to build on the past and present,with a vision towards the future.

Amoako Baah is the epitome of some useless African professors who spend their time politicking,rather than teaching and doing research.And as always,what comes out of his mouth lacks common sense.

No wonder people are now making a joke about KNUST-Listen to this-18Ghanaian KNUST professors were told to sit in an aeroplane, When they were all seated and the plane was about to take off, they were told the plane was made by their own students. they quickly run out of the plane leaving only one professor who was sitting confidently. when he was asked why he was still sitting, he said . 'if the plane was made by our own students, trust me it won't even start' The intellectual mediocrity and the 'hiding behind qualifications' mentality of Baah sadly demonstrated by Baah tells me that his qualification does not worth the paper his certificates are written on.!! How could a professor make reference to a 4yrs old situation whilst there are most up to date -recent data available?. Is Baah really a lecture in Political History and Political Science? Is he still using his old student notes to teach his students and does he mark down students who produce more up to date intellectual stuff? Wrong data leads to wrong conclusions!

In fact, the population figure he provides for 1957 is wrong! The population of Ghana at independence was not 4.5 million. And Prof. Baah is the historian/political scientist!

The greatest challenge for Nkrumaism today is that its followers are more dogmatic than Nkrumah himself, who, for intents and purposes, was a very practical operator, using socialist ideology and allies in his quest to decolonise Africa, while building ties in the West to find the capital and technologies to develop Ghana. He was able to translate his knowledge into practical reality. Such into academic history and you would realise that many of the acclaimed intellectuals and head of departments in the universities were only first degree holders but they use their intelligence to write useful books, they were inventors and mentors to the benefit of mankind. They did not just boast of their academic. degrees.

The only achievement that the Nkrumaists can cite for Nkrumah is his unparalleled infrastructural development of the country. This is even a wash when one considers the billions he inherited from the colonial government; and the fact that his mainstay monument, the Akosombo Dam was financed by outsiders on insulting terms.

But even given that we may credit Nkrumah with a scintilla of vision, Nkrumah's intellectual legacy is still questionable. Dr. Amoako-Baah is right in questioning Nkrumah's type education that deprives educands of the ability to think and analyse, and that only leaves one with the shibboleth that Nkrumah never dies, or that Nkrumah does no wrong.

That kind of thinking is what Dr. Amoko-Baah describes as insufficient and lazy. And I do agree with him.

Having said that, I don't see how this debate is enhanced by reference to anybody's ethnicity. All those making this space an ethnocentric theater are no different from the ossified minds here we acccuse of lacking in analytical thinking. For indeed, it is a testament of extreme lazy thinking to assess a person's intent and motive by dint of his ethnic origin.

In the second installment of your article,would you please explain the cogent reason Odumfoo-Kumfoo Dr.Kwame Nkrumah,having schooled in Pennsylvania and having been embedded in the belly of capitalism,and ought to know and knew that capitalism-a time-tested and,unquestionably,the magic wand for economic prosperity,opted to be a bedmate with the disintegrated poor USSR?
You cannot twist the political history of Ghana to suit your whims and caprices.The UGCC had built a solid foundation for our independence before making the GRAVE mistake of inviting the opportunist into their fold.
In fact,time has exonerated the original founders of the UGCC.Blindly bashing the Adikanfoo in oblivion of the unequaled successes of democracy and capitalism in modern times in guaranteeing high standard of living and prosperity just for the sole purpose of criticism is academically dishonest.
The natural dismemberment of the hitherto mighty but poor USSR and Ghana's persistent and unquenchable affinity for the tenets of a democratic dispensation and a mixed market economy attest to the undeniable fact that the introduction of dictatorship and the over-enthusiasm to form SOEs(majority of which have been liquidated)were ill-conceived and a sheer waste of our precious time and human and natural resources.
Ghana's state of quandary,a shuttle between capitalism and economically-impotent socialism,is attributable to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's influence.
It is an open secret that socialism is only good as a prop for capitalism.
The CPP has outlived its usefulness because the ideas sheepishly cherished by Dr Nkrumah,dictatorship and socialism,are moribund.Ghanaians of this age will not tolerate them.
At this juncture,the CPP should be honest and have a change of heart by joining the NPP so we can revisit the UGCC days and begin afresh from the capitalist system bequeathed to us by the colonial British government.
If Ghana does not embrace capitalism to the fullest and shed the white-elephant,inefficient,wasteful and corruption-tainted SOEs,we will always be chasing the socio-economic mirage.Complete privatization should be the way forward.
It is mind-boggling to ponder the reason John Mahama's socialism-oriented government will run to the IMF,a capitalist institution which the die-hard socialist detests so much, for panhandling because of the Fund's conditions precedent.They do not believe in this imperialist? institution's propagating policies for socio-economic success.We live to see if they have the affirmation,belief and confidence to follow through the bailout prescriptions.
They just want the money to squander on the impending elections.
Leave Dr.Amoako-Baah alone! He did not cause Ghana's ideological dilemma.Dr. Nkrumah did.
The notable tendency to smear any Ghanaian who expresses divergent political and socio-economic views is infantile and rooted in ignorance.
The government and its sycophantic bandwagon should be made aware that they do not own the country.They are just momentary custodians of our natural resources.As a result,we have every conceivable right to criticize them to ensure that the resources are utilized efficiently and for the general betterment of every Ghanaian,natural born or naturalized,especially when every erroneous turn results in loss of precious time and scarce natural resources.It also leads to frustration and brain drain,at times.The resources were not bestowed upon us by our Creator to be stolen by privileged politicians and their affiliates.
Ghana should not be a poor country.With the human and natural resources at our disposal,and 58 solid years of independence,the little kids should not learn under trees squatting on pieces of wood without brilliant teachers and the latest study materials,and at the mercy of vagaries of the weather and vulture droppings.How will they fair in the age of computers,smart phones and the internet?The Chinese are undaunted in learning about capitalism.A swarm of Chinese youth in the US and the western world are an annual pilgrimage.How can our Mpapadan -classrooms schooling compete in the global world which is being "villagised" every minute?
