A well-written account of your side of the story. I hope Adofo will also have something to say about this, and try to counteract with his own version of the truth. I have read a lot from this forum about the Kumawu chieftaincy affairs, since my father hails from that area. The narrative you gave above still hasn't touched the main bone of contention between the feuding factions. The Ananagya folks contend, per Adofo's accounts, that your Ankaase people have no blood relations to the Aduana/kodua royal family, and that the originator of the Ankaase family, Dabo was installed as a regent by Queenmother Taa Acheampong at the insistence of the then Asantehene. We want to know how Dabo and his folks ended up in queen Taa Acheampong's home. This is the crux of the whole matter we are dealing with here. Unless the Ankaase family is able to convince people of their origin, with verifiable proofs and linkages to tie their matrilineal lineage to the matriach of the Aduana stool, Seni Fontom, they will still be considered as illegitimate and alien to the Kodua stool. The above narratives you gave here does not cut to the core of this feud. I am waiting for your comprehensive account on this to lay issues to rest.

Some people just hide behind the keyboard and type garbage. One notorious plonker is Adofo Rockson or whatever. He claims to have a doctorate degree. I don't know where he got that doctorate degree from. If he really has a doctorate degree, then I'm afraid his articles about the Kumawu chieftaincy issue and his incessant berating of Otumfour are a complete and absolute insult to his, if any, highly developed intellect. I picture him as 'drunk one hour, an abstainer the next; veering from violent athletics to no athletics at all, and from both to the study of philosophy; today a politician, who jumps to his feet and talks unpremeditated nonsense, and tomorrow a warrior..., such a person can never find real happiness...' (The Political Thought of Plato and Aristotle, E. Barker, 2012). I'm pretty much sure he would read your piece of article and digest it. He would then position himself alongside the academics and see where he fits in. Thank you, James for your masterpiece! You did your research well before coming out with this article.

There was clearly a "bribery and corruption" in the case. That's exactly the case. The Supreme Court where the appeal case is pending, will never call or rule on this case now due to the political underpinnings involved here. Kumawuhemaa/Asantehene are heavily tilted towards NDC. If the case is called now, the court will be forced to rule in their favour in the face of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. To save face and the sanctity of the judiciary, the supreme court will kick the can along the road hoping that NPP will come to power. At that point the court can come up with a good judgement based on the true facts without antagonizing the government in power(NPP).

The King makers really did not help themselves. They really weaken their case by accepting the money from the queen mother OR Nana Yaw Sarfo.
Hence the writer is wrong to say the queen mother installs a chief but rather she nominates.

I'd love to ask the writer to tell us how many of the sub-chiefs need to make the quorum - to accept the new chief as proposed by the queen. In any case, what is the total number of sub-chiefs who are Kingmakers? How many chiefs were in favour and how many were opposed to the queen's choice? Please, clarify this position. This will make sense of your argument that Sarfo was duly elected.

There was a time when the Asantehene's word was sacred and could not be challenged. Not in this internet age. The Asantehene should be very careful because he is putting his position in disrepute. He should be a source of reconciliation and not antagonism.

The writer has tried to put one side of the story. No doubt, someone from Kumawu would tell us the other side of the story. The see-saw goes on.

Any Objections raised should be based on substantive evidence such a crime, imprisonment, terminal disease, disability or loss of any of his body. But there was none in this case. Usually the nominee gives these King makers something in a form of a gift .. mostly money.But is not part of the custom to do so, is just a form of appreciation.This where these particular King makers got greedy. They asked for some money and they got it so the next step was to introduce the candidate to otumfuo but the asked for another money which this time again the Queen mother paid and then asked for more money and then the Queen mother refused to give them any more . so now they felt that then they would have to bring in their personal new candidate because they felt that Queen mother is always chosing their King from the same Royal family. This is why the queen mother had to drag them to otumfuo. So at manhyia the custom was explained to them that the Queen is the only one who nominates and is up to the nominee to give them the kingmakers some money. The King makers can not demand for money because the stool is not up for sale. So they proceeded since the nominee was in manhyia, he was introduced to otumfuo. Usually he would have to go to Kumawu and return to manhyia to swear to otumfuo. But with this case, it been pending for 7 years so they wrapped it up and allowed him to swear the same day.
