  They are themselves promoting tribalism and inviting Ewe people like C.Y. Andy-K and others to influx tribal attacks on Akans.

  Mi nua barima I dry feel sorry for you paa and for Asase Yaa Ghana. Most adverse commentators resort to insult and invective instead of addressing the issues I do not think the referenced columnists are always right however they base their views on facts and then use critical thinking and logic to present their case. Further the topic they most often write on is a settled matter, the only reason there is a debate is the descendants of the political tendency that was repeatedly routed at the polls by Osagyefo are suffering very unfortunately from a political dementia I prefer to call ODS OSAGYEFO DERANGEMENT SYNDROME. Before you jump on me I have the political BONA FIDES you see the PDA was written with my late father as a primary target. He was detained from December 1958 till February 24 1966 and was the first person detained under the PDA. We need to stop litigating this issue. If UP/PP/NLM/NLC had chosen to build on Osagyefo foundation rather than repudiating his work in their vain efforts to brand him as a monstrous usurper we would be much better of. NPP complains of GIHOC being sold off, forgetting that between 1966-72 they chose to abandon the industrial development plan of OSAGYEFO while paying the debts incurred to import the capital goods to effect the plan. How sad and treasonous to Mother Ghana indeed. The seeds of tribalism in this country was down by the UP/PP axis in our country.

  Goodness! Just see how this 'long talk - book long' guy is taking on technocrats. You think the problem Ghana is going through should be laid at the door post of engineers? Far from that. The problem we face now is one that has got to do poor management. The Hydro power is suffering from lack of capital injection and erratic rainfall. This is not a technical problem. This is also the case for all the thermal plants in Ghana. There is no gas and crude to power them. This is as a result of lack funds from the government. So why blame engineers for this sate of affairs in Ghana?

  I believe one could "escape from the nadir of global education" by less dependence on our classroom type education and more focus on extensive self-study and intellectual curiosity. And by these, I mean very comprehensive reading and critiquing of philosophy and the classics, and the willingness to ask EVERY and ALL questions, including those iconoclastic ones on deeply held religious beliefs and cultural assumptions. Like carbon mono-oxide, religion and culture can suck out the oxygen of creative thinking.....No follower of any religious faith or unscientific cultural practice can exploit his or her full potential as a thinker or a creative genius! And that may well be the problem we face in Ghana.
  
  My legal training is a matter of sheer luck, especially where I acquired it in a modest albeit resourceful school here in the US, but it also enables me to establish trends in logical reasoning and faulty arguments in a broadly legal milieu. However, one does not need to become a lawyer to determine what makes sense and what does not. I think competent knowledge in the types of fallacious arguments people make, and how to debunk these will be enough, and the internet is a good resource for this type of knowledge, believe me.
  
  The above should suffice for now, because any discourse about whatever ability I have will require a whole autobiography. But I can assure you that my battles in life have been existential, and there is no danger I have not encountered, either to my health or life. I sometimes joke that there is no condition I have not seen, nor any misery I have not endured....But that is where the luck comes in, because all these struggles come in to broaden my perspectives in very unique ways.

  I share your concerns about our inability to apply the knowledge we acquire through many years of education. What's the use of knowledge if it can't be used to improve our circumstancesor the knowledge acquired is insufficient or incapable of helping to fix the everyday problems and challenges that we are confronted with? When you look at it this way then the billions spent on education is money down the drain.
  In my opinion teaching methods and the lack of teaching and learning materials are the main reasons why education seems to be meaningless and pointless. We haven't caught up and don't seem ready yet to catch up with the reading culture that's so prevalent in europe and america because books abound and libraries are dotted all over europe and america whereas in Ghana it's the opposite. At the core of the problem is the method of teaching. During my days at Kwabotwe I took a Technical Drawing class in my third year but the teacher was so boring and unimaginative in his teaching methods most students quit his class by the end of the semester. He used to say"Imagine this or that" but most of those things he always mentioned were alien to his students.
  The other problem is the english language. Both teachers and students have problems understanding and expressing themselves coherently in english.
  I can also think of another problem which is the lack of continuous education.
  Religion has nothing to do with our inability to apply the principles of knowledge because I know of many devout christian and muslim scholars who have contributed immensely to the upliftment of the human race through their discoveries and inventions. "The glory of God is intelligence." The problem with religious education is just about the same as the problem with secular education:the inability of those taught to apply the principles in a meaningful way in their lives. It's all about the way it's taught and the inability of the Christians, etc, to read and understand their Bible and apply the doctrines and principles in their lives . People can govern themselves if they are taught the correct Christian principles.
