  Nkrumah, who is driven by ambition to be far more than Ghana's leader, aspires to be recognized not only as the predominant African political personality but as a man to be reckoned with on the international stage. His dreams of grandeur have led to a number of attempts to make Ghana the focal point of wider African political entities -- the abortive Ghana Guinea-Mali union, the defunct Joint African High Command, and his current project of a united Africa -- all of which have foundered in the face of reality and because of the refusal of other African leaders to accord Nkrumah the position of predominance implicit in all of his schemes. Instead, Ghana has become increasingly isolated, and Nkrumah has •earned the distrust of most African leaders and has even alienated his erstwhile radical cronies in Guinea, Mali, and the UAR.
  
  On the international scene, Nkrumah's conception of himself as a world leader has led him to make contacts with other leaders whose real or fancied friendship he values highly. His self-created role has also resulted in frequent offers of gratuitous advice in resolving non-African problems, the details and complexities of which he is largely ignorant. He has thus attempted to insert himself in the Cuban missile crisis, the Sino-Indian border conflict, the Arab-Israeli dispute, the nuclear-disarmament question, and the Vietnamese situation. Nothing has come of any of these efforts.
  
  Although he has succeeded in projecting himself into the African and international scene to a greater extent than most African leaders, Nkrumah is considered by most world leaders to be more of a nuisance and a figure of ridicule than a statesman. These rebuffs, and Nkrumah's consequent sense of extreme frustration, are in part responsible for his policy of encouraging and abetting subversion in Africa, activity which he also rationalizes on the grounds that many African nations -- including all of his close neighbors-- do not support the radical policies which he advocates and are followed by his government."

  Nkrumah began in 1960 to display openly his pro Communist, Anti-Western beliefs. Under his influence and with his encouragement, Ghana negotiated a number of economic agreements with Communist nations, waged increasingly strident campaigns against "capitalism, imperialism, and neocolonialism," and generally championed positions and policies in world affairs which support and further Communist aims. Moderates within the government were eliminated or lost their influence, while radicals and leftists assumed positions of importance and leadership and became increasingly influential in guiding Ghana further to the left.
  
  Despite all of this, however, Ghana today is not as far into the Communist camp as would seem probable. That Nkrumah and his like-minded followers have not succeeded in more closely identifying Ghana with the Communist world is due to a number of factors -- the Western culture and tradition ingrained over the years of British rule; the fact that Ghana's economy is still closely tied to Western markets; the fact that the governing party is far from being a monolithic organization and has never fully exercised the powers it theoretically possesses; the opposition of the armed forces to closer military ties with the Communists; and the fact that the Communist nations have been increasing reluctant to shore up the deteriorating economy, thus forcing Nkrumah not to alienate completely possible Sources of Western assistance.

  The record is clear. Nkrumah wanted a stronger voice for Ghana and Africa.
  
  But your Danquah-Busia-Dombo Confederated conspired with US, France, and the UK, to overthrow Nkrumah.
  
  Why?
  
  Because Nkrumah was demanding respect for Ghanaian/African interest.

As one writer rightly put it, "we don't care about the colour of the leg that is pressing against our neck, we just want to get rid of it," and that is exactly what patriotic Ghanaians did for their country. Moreover, how can someone who was considered by most world leaders to be more of a nuisance and a figure of ridicule demand respect for Ghanaian/African interest?

  It is in that context that Busia is seen and treated as a traitor! Information indicates Busia was an informer before the telegram of Dec 1957.
  
  In particular there is talk about Busia asking $25,000 "not (ten) thousand" from the US government. Therefore, we can say that Busia used the cover of "Scholar" and "university work", to report on Kwame Nkrumah government even during 1957.

  Busia is intelligent and knowing. He would want our help to “condition” potential donors in US and also to transfer such funds to Ghana where he says they would appear to be proceeds of party fund raising efforts in Ghana....//...

  NLM-UP-NLC-Busia-PP! They were all connected, Confederates, who never stood for Unitary Ghana. Many of them allowed themselves to be used to drag Ghana to the ground.

  But, lack of passage of the FOI bill in Ghana today is one measure of the lack of commitment of the government to transparency, as measured against their performance as far as the masses are concerned.
  
  Same goes for the Kuffour regime and the Rawlings's regime(s).
  
  Governments have to perform for the masses, and not allow politicians to hide thefts of public resources, nepotism, and discrimination.
  
  You see, the masses in Singapore, those who matter most to us, and to Nkrumah, those in Singapore, were little concerned about lack of freedoms to some information only useful to thieves, vampires, and the likes of Danquah-Busia Confederates/Nation wreckers.
  
  No FOI bill!
  
  Lack of performance!
  
  One huge strike against!

  Once more you have submitted an extremely fascinating, informative, and revealing set of historical facts in your write-up that I found hard to put down - until I had reached its conclusion. Undoubtedly, we are of the same mind: Ghana's advancement must be precipitated by an intensive psychological/attitudinal change. Now here is the crunch: with the practice of cronyism and nepotism, and/or the rampant semi/illiteracy among elected/selected officials who,as a result, are clueless about their jobs, your proposed solutions here therefore appear more vague than they do concrete to those who may wish to contribute to our country's development, be that even from a purely selfish perspective.Perhaps what I am indirectly asking is whether you have room, time, and energy for research that gives relevant authorities straightforward, workable solutions to some specific problems you enumerated in this write-up. I realize I sound naive and certainly unfair to expect you to work for free when others in those jobs may be drawing huge checks for work they are not qualified to do; however, I trust I am now familiar with your patriotic nature and hope you will continue to volunteer your efforts for the sake of our development. Forgive me for pushing you into that hot seat.
  
  Something else which crossed my mind as I read the essay; namely, that it is one thing looking in - from the outside, but quite another standing inside looking out. In other words,with the consistent sale of Ghana's assets and resources to international entities by consecutive governments, or being bound by certain protracted contracts/treaties, exactly how effectively can any contemporary Ghanaian government effect desired change for the good of the masses? Just how messed up are our affairs behind the scenes, do you reckon?
