Folks, please go back and read. A vaccine is NOT a drug. This vaccine is to trick the body to provide anti-bodies to the Ebola disease. It will NOT harm any participant.
This is Science.

Thank you Dr Bokor for this nice piece.
I am an ashanti but please my good people of volta region should not and never allow themselves to be used as guinea pigs for ebola vaccines. Our brothers and sisters in the Hohoe area and all Ghanaians should stand up against this stupid idea by some of our leaders who do not care about our welfare but thier own personal interest of getting small dollars and putting the whole citizens health at risk.
There has never been ebola case not even a single case so why should ebola vaccines trials be done in Ghana. Why not those countries affected by ebola or in the advance countries where it's side effects can be managed in thier well - equipped hospitals.
At times I find it difficult if the black man is capable of managing his own affairs or whether we are curse. How can a Minister sit down and agree for this to be brought to his country and the FDA authoring it.
This is not an issue for Hohoe alone but for all Ghanaians to stand up against this stupid idea.
By the way, social media pages are been set up for people to join and raise your concern. If the leaders in thier wisdom (to me without wisdom) decide to ahead will lead to demonstrate in all the ten regional capital.
Do our leaders even think...

Your understanding of "science" is warped. For your information, "science" is full of flaws!! In this case, the Ebola experiment is dangerous to Ghanaians and must be opposed. Whoever is bent on doing it must be dealt with or sent to Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea to do that bogus experiment.
Science, my foot!!

Vaccines are often produced and experimented on human beings with the view to establish their efficacy. In actual fact, there is nothing wrong in doing that for at the end of the day, it is human beings who are going to be the beneficiaries.
But when it comes to testing a vaccine for a deadly disease like Ebola then caution must be taken. Considering the devastating nature of the disease and the state of hopelessness it threw health professionals into, it needs not be toyed with. Let me say that since the disease did not affect Ghana, nothing must be carelessly done to invite that dreaded disease into Ghana now that the affected countries have been declared Ebola free.
In any case, have the RATS and GUINEA PIGS noted for carrying out experiments extinct? Please, Ghanaians must be spared the ordeal of Ebola for we haven't finish carrying the burden of problems confronting us as a nation to be quick in inviting another one. A stitch in time indeed saves nine.

What will you stay when Ebola breaks out in Ghana. We could not deal with cholera because of people like you. Always offering ignorant opinions.
Let me give you a small story about CSM. When the w135. type of the disease broke out in Burkina Faso we as usual started talking like you are doing now.
When it hit us up north in 2010 we were helpless.
Anyway where were you when Malaria and csm vaccine trials were undertaken in this country right under our noses.
It is fear just like our ancestors. Instead of exploring we exhibit ignorance. Tell me should Malians agree for Ebola vaccines to be sent to Ghana when they are also being used as guinea pigs.
Bokor vaccine development is not like pounding herbs to make bitters. Please read on non political topics before you make comments on them

Ghana should be grateful for the opportunity to be part of clinical trials for a disease that can cause major loss of human capital. It takes millions of dollars to develop vaccines and Ghana or Africa cannot afford that. The least we can do to help ourselves and the world is to take part in clinical research.
It is not a live vaccine.

Very well said I rest my case oooooo, it looks like we had the same thought. My question is WHO OWNS THE PATENT FOR THE VACCINE? I bet you you will be surprise and the whiteman (Johnson & Johnson) an american pharmaceutical company which stand a chance to rack in $$$$$$$ on the back of africans (Voltarians).. The whiteman have use the black race for experiment time and time again and have gotten away with murder. (e.g.. the Tuskegee, Syphilis, Depo-provera etc) Ironically the (US, Canada, UK, Russia etc) have all rejected this criminal trial by their own Johnson & Johnson on their citizen.
The Ghana FDA and Minister of health, Prof Dodoo, Prof Bikan and the NDC all need to be investigated , it appears somebody or Money has changed hands and they are trying to push this criminal trial through.
Again the fact that Voltarians were selected for this trial is an INSULT to the region and its people. This is call "selection bias " in research methodology. All these so called Profs have shown they are educated fools. I nominate President Mahama, Minister of health, Prof Dodoo, Prof Bikan for the trial. let them take the vaccine, let the rest know the effect in 5, 10, 20 yrs later.
