Pathetic, poor analysis runs through this article from beginning to end. Bill gate invented Microsoft from a garage and this writer is calling it the work of Capitalism, unbelievable IGNORANCE. It is the work of NECESSITY, not capitalism -- necessity is the mother of all inventions.
All the other inventions you mentioned came from the same route.
Capitalism cannot invent anything and has never invented anything apart from greed and avarice. Recently, North Korea, which has been cut off from the international financial world build an airport which in the words of Western media has put their own airports to shame. This is North Korea, a communist state, how did they build an airport surpasses that of America's own? Is that the work of communism, No. It is the work of necessity.
Recently , America so called head of the capitalist world, failed to launch Rocket into space to provide food supplies to their desperate astronauts who were running out of supplies and the reason was that American could not generate the necessary part of the rocket engine to power their shuttle to space. It took Russia to use their a rocket Engine to power a space shuttle to deliver the food supplies to America astronauts in space. Capitalism can't even provide common Rocket engines to save their astronauts, something that Russia, a non capitalist country in your view, has been able to do, and you are here patting yourself in the back. You are not serious.

I remember Kwarteng suggesting to some Ghanaweb commentators, perhaps a year or so ago, to read the doctoral dissertation of the German scientist, philosopher and mathematician Gottfried Leibniz, the American polymath John von Newmann, the British mathematician George Boole, and the American mathematician Ron Eglash, if they really wanted to understand and to know more the long history behind the development of the modern computer.
Has Baidoo heard of the friendship between George Boole and Charles Babbage? Probably not. Dr. Ron Eglash’s talk at TED.com on the history of the development of the modern computer exposes Baidoo’s ignorance again, putting him to shame.
I believe Kwarteng has also discussed Eglash in one of his articles. Eglash’s Ted.com presentation (www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n36qV4Lk94) is given the title Ron Eglash: The fractals at the heart of African designs.
It is becoming apparent to me why the Francis guy does not take this Baidoo guy serious. Na wa oooo…Ignorance be dis!

The idea of immunisation was picked up by Mary Wortley Montagu in Turkey, but it was when she brought it to England that the capitalist enterprise of the British brought it to life with an infusion of scientific validation from Dr Edward Jenner. Without her effort it would have remained a folklore idea. Please, the world is a symbiotic place where people share ideas; it is when totalitarian regimes like that of Nkrumah want to impose their perception of the universe on the rest that it becomes a problem. At least, in a liberal capitalist society I have the right and chance to say it. I wouldn’t have the opportunity to do that in a totalitarian society like what Nkrumah tried to establish in Ghana. If he had lived in the Ukraine his outlook would have been different. His parents escaped from Ukraine before the Bolsheviks took over. Under that system those who opposed him would have been thrown into prison. In addition, if he had lived in a place like Cambodia under Pol Pot his chosen profession wouldn’t have seen the light of day.
