This is about the only topic on which SARPONG, SAS and other open-minded and forward thinking persons on ghanaweb are agreed. SARPONG, SAS and a few others, as well as Okoampa, have consistently and bravely defended the rights of gays on this forum. And they are to be commended for their stand.

For some of us, the issue of gay rights is one of stamping out bigotry and all forms of discrimination in our Ghanaian society.

That is why it will be important for the present writer to also extend his progressive ideas on homosexuality to other areas like ethnocentricism. You cannot fight for the rights of homosexuals in Ghana and at the same time write articles degrading peoples of other ethnic groups and projecting your own ethnic group as better than those which others belong to.

We should not accept that heterosexuality is "better" than homosexuality and persecute and insult honosexuals. No. In the same way, we should not also accept that one ethnic group in Ghana is better than another ethnic group which must be insulted and blamed for the ills of our society.
