They were thinking of how to hang on to power. And with the visible signs os Mills' health not getting any better soon they became so apprehensive about their chances of winning the 2012 election. My understanding was that some section of the NDC had no choice than to abandon the president to die after numerous attempt of getting him to resign failed. The three Ahwois, the old evil dwarfs, were the ones who persuaded Mills to stay at the presidency after the news came out that mills voluntarily wanted to design. That foolish old soldier, Nonoo Mensah also confirm to Ghanaians that he also prevail on the President not to resign after the later called him to his office and discussed with him, his intentions to resign. According to Rawlings, " Mills did not listen to wise counsel " to resign. Yes the wise counsel from the groups who did support the idea of Mills resigning for Mahama to take over was not heeded. There was power play at this juncture. Those who felt their positions in Mills' administration were in danger were the ones who persuaded him to stay in power. Those who were for resignation were Mahama and his evil cabal who thought that presenting the ailing president to the pools for renewal of mandate to continue as president will be catastrophic. Mahama's camp, the Northern cabal, who will steal everything they lay their hands on, were so power drank. While Koku Anyidoho and those who wanted to present Mills to the 2012 elections and damn whatever consequence, the Mahama's camp were thinking of winning 2012 at all cost. This left them( Mahama's camp) with two options, thus, either Mills is forced to resign or wish him dead. And true to their evil machinations, Mills died a 'dwarfly' mysterious death. So to repeat the question of Mr. Damptey: Who killed Professor Mills? You guess would be as good as mine Thanks Mr. Damptey.
