This article is comparing apples and oranges. First of all, the author should be comparing doctors' salaries and conditions of service with other professional bodies such as teachers, nurses and other technocrats. All over the world politics is treated as the most risky of all endeavors and the professions reserved not for the fainted- hearted. It is for this reason that politicians are often thrown out as and when the electorate feel dissatisfied with their performance. In other words, there is no job security for the politicians; no wonder very few people shy away from politics. In Ghana this far, doctors are assured of job security and can even choose to dabble in politics. Doctors should stop comparing themselves with politics because they operate in different realms. Ask the former NPP ministers about their life experiences since leaving office. To compare a stable profession without much job risk with a seasonal or temporary quasi-profession is a misplaced comparison. Why don't the doctors leave their professions to enter politics if they so envy the latter? I am ashamed of our doctors in Ghana. How can they expect the state to pay their malpractice insurance with such huge perks?

all what you have outlined are not automatic some come as and when you are given an assignment and i believe almost all workers in Ghana enjoy same even if not documented, e,g travel allowance, per diem etc. are you telling me GHS OR MOH workers do not already enjoy such. have you seen anything like lump sum and retiring on their salary. i pray government grants even a quarter of their request and other unions will also demand their share after all whether written or unwritten conditions of service is always subject to change and negotiations. i believe potag, utag, gnat, nagrat, nurses, ghopsa are all watching and monitoring proceedings closely.

Politicians are killing us in this country, how do you expect the doctors work without any conditions of services. Where on earth will this occur.

They only spend what the doctor has worked for. It is high time we stop this attitudes towards doctors and workers in this country. What has changed since our president went for leave.
