Hi,
For your information, there is nothing there for any negotiation when the leadership of the GMA showed bad faith in the first place by threatening to go on strike even before any talks began. Meanwhile, the President only stepped in to state his position when both teams failed to compromise on a deal and the doctors resorted to blackmail and an illegal strike to force the hand of the President. In any case, the President has spoken for majority of Ghanaians and if the doctors don't agree with that then I'm afraid but they should go to hell. Thank you.

If you profess to be a member of Ghana's leadership class, Mr Kennedy, you must learn and master the art of intellectual honesty, have wisdom and above all be principled. I know it does not take much by way of morals to be a card carrying member of the NPP or NDC but you must have credibility to talk to Ghanaians. The president of Ghana must not and cannot be brow beaten by a collection of modern day prefessionsl thugs into submission; it sets a bad precedent that will be exploited by other professional government workers.
I know members of parliament have extracted their pound of flesh from the Ghanaiane society for which we each carry unhealed scars and some with scabs but we will not sit idle by and let you, Arthur Kennedy, conspire with GMA to get another portion of flesh from the broken bodies of Ghanaians. You are failed individual, Arthur Kennedy, fit to represent a constituency of under educated bunch driven by tribal loyalties and not core values but your level of influence starts and stops with your constituency.

Regarding your suggestion that, it is only the President who can resolve the impasse, I disagree with you because Ghana and Ghanaians should allow institutions to work instead of relying on personalities. Why have ministers and heads of institutions if it's only President Mahama who can resolve the demands of public workers?
Your suggestion of raising new revenue through tax on Ghanaian trained doctors practising abroad is also unrealistic. How would such tax be collected and administered? Is that not punitive tax since Ghanaian trained doctors are not the only Ghanaian trained professionals practising their trade outside Ghana. What about those of us in other professions who also benefited from similar public funds for our education or training but working abroad?

wow.wow.President bow to the demand of the doctors?..first of all, according to Dr EDUSEI.president of the GMA said it is not about the upaid salary means adoctors are paid:it is about their allowances which under negociation and some of the allowances is 100gallons of gas(petrol) to Sr DOCTORS AND 20gallons of petrol to jr Doctors, free clothing, free personal insurances..etc totalling 205%of their basic salary on top on their salary,so, the whole issue is misinformed the public;the politicians has twisted the whole issue and my question to the president of GMA if is not about saraly that everybody sympathising them and is about the allowances and is ongoing negociation, why are they striking?..why do they have to resign on allowances,it is not about salary which the president of GMA SAID IS UNDER SINGLE SIPNE so they cant touch it..why do they go on strike..it is illegal

The doctors are not owed pay arrears,in fact the papers have reported that the junior doctors pay have been resolved and there is no issue with senior doctors pay as well so the issue is not about pay,it is about the outrageous allowances and perks they are asking the tax payer and the poor Ghanians to pay them because they see themselves as special.
If the government accedes to these unreasonable demands, they will open a can of worms which will be worse than the political fall out which is their motive anyway.President Mahama must hold the line at the risk of his political carrier but come election time the people will know the politics involved and do the right thing.
The bluff of these discredited professionals who don't understand their oath of office must be called off.Their pomposity and breathtaking arrogance must be snubbed and shamed.
