We have become a national of indisciplined individuals. How could anyone justify going on strike for book allowance when his salary and the book allowance will be paid anyway.

Labour right is an international concept under the UN with the ILO as the institution which supervises it to ensure these rights are protected.
However these rights are not absolute and that is why due process must be followed to make it legal. One of this requirement is that that it is irresponsible to strike whilst the negotiations are ongoing.
The justifiability of a strike would therefore depend on whether the intentions were bona fide, and justifiability would be viewed as to whether the demands are fair and reasonable. In this case the demands are unfair and perverse and insulting to other workers in Ghana.
The most reasonable approach is to stop payments to public sector workers who embank on strikes as is been done in the west whose examples we copy like the colonial perks which don't happen in their countries anyway.

Kofi,it is part of the "grand conspiracy" in the country to see Akuffo Addo elected at all cost in 2016,since this is his last chance! .No doubt about it! .Remember Akoto Ampaw's statement a while ago that they as a party will continue with strikes & demonstrations until the elections are over in 2016!.They are behind all that & Akuffo Addo is happy, thinking it's a done deal for him to become president. But he will cause suicide after the elections in 2016.
His defeat would be more devastating than previous ones.I rest my case!

Mr Ata, a good one here. I like the bit about eliminating the "pull factors". However as you highlighted, I believe the pull factor is not the pay that workers recieve when they are on civil actions. Rememeber some of them have not recieved their salaries in months and are running on empty anyway.
The real reasons are the greed and gluttony of the government and politicians in taking undue slices of the national cake and giving the rest to undeserving people.
Just see how Mahama's brother has been given trucks and equipments belonging to the state and he going to take them free of charge.
When you see things like that, it make people really angry. So while the down-trodden masses are too hungry to protest, the professionals often can and do protest for the people.
Eliminate the criminality and excesses at the top and everything will be peaceful because there would have been enough to go round.
It is the greed which is causing all these problems.

if you want to demonstrate and go back to work then you get paid. but if you strike you do not work then no pay.

Well said bro , one is paid as results of services delivered, if you decide to withdraw your services you must forfeit your salary . This policy should be implemented in Ghana to deter public workers from the unnecessary strike actions. Paying someone who has done zero work must not be entertained in the Country. This will help Ghanaians to be discipline enough lest the Economy will break down
