  The people of Bolgatanga are not missing much; they are not isolated or restricted from taping into a pool of leadership with intellectual honesty, foresight or wisdom nationally. The area historically known as Ghana's Northern region suffers much the same way as all the other regions unless you would rather suffer living in cities and metropolis built on shifting sands and buildings with loudly colored paint but with all the misery every Ghanaian knows and have known since 1966.
  
  Problems in the north do parallel the ills in the middle eastern Muslim nations. Muslim nations in the Middle East choose to allow suffering of others in their region and Muslim faith to go on amidst the sea of oil money because they practice what others dictate to them from afar. The people of the Northern region choose to engage in skirmishes about worthless issues while those they send to Accra roll in the spoils of the national coffers even as their kinfolks suffer.
  
  Ghana bleeds because there are no leaders fit to manage from at home or from the Diaspora. We've become a mirror image of the Middle East Muslim nations with all its ills and irony but we're much worse because we fail to learn from mistakes of the past and from others; we're fools.
