A new register may rightfully not the answer to the Ghanaian general election rigging problem, but a may be a necessity. To begin with, it will be difficult for the opposition parties and the government in power to convince the rest of the world that a fraudulent voters register, can be used to establish a credible democracy, may be only in an African country. Secondly, the newly appointed Electoral Commissioner, as a matter of professional and public service expediency, should compile her own register that she can trust and work with. This will help her to establish her own credibility, by getting rid of the Afari Djan tainted register that could not be defended before the Supreme Court of Ghana, due to its floors. In this case, the new EC will establish her own credible legacy to be accepted by all, if she wants to assert herself as an independent Electoral Commissioner, as that office was established to be. If Ms. Osei throws this opportunity through her EC office window to the "NDC dogs", her 'safety' in holding that already "tainted" office may never be guaranteed by Ghanaians, and she has herself to blame! A new register is a necessary evil, although, it cannot by itself, guarantee an election victory to any of the contesting political parties in Ghana.

For your information, there is nothing like Afari Gyan tainted register. The register was tainted with minors and foreigners by the two leading political parties, NDC and NPP.

I hope you read and understood the article but if you did not, then I suggest you take time to read it again and digest the contents. This is because the author made it clear that whether BVMs register or a new one, the register is as good as it can get if the culture of the people is indiscipline, total disregard for the law and encouragement of minors and foreigners to register.

Could you remember that the P/NDC party with the endorsement of former EC boss used fake indelible ink for elections in 1992 and 1996, which was part of the rigging mechanism for stealing verdicts until a proper indelible ink was secured for the country in 2000 by Craig Murray?
Contrary to what the discredited former EC Chairman said, this is another example of how elections are rigged far away from polling stations. NDC is again preparing to rig the elections through the old bloated voters' register, and Asiedu Nketia and his party is fighting to keep the loophole intact, despite the fact that the Supreme Court recommended a new voters' register and all the political parties support it. NDC would resist weeding out the illegal names or compile a new register because they are con-men with con plans

Having taken note of your write - up may I respectfully ask one question. Can anyone trust Mahama to initiate or provide funds for this project? The answer is obvious.
