  This is an interesting piece. I'm expecting the GMA to write rejoinder to this article refuting all the claims about the conditions of service the author has mentioned. If the GMA fails to respond then the public will have to accept what has been published by this article. The conditions of service listed in this article are ridiculous & outrageous. The demands do not factor in the circumstances of the economy. The impression created by the demands is an economy that is booming and stable. Sadly, that's not the case. So doctors embarking on strike for their pound of flesh when it is all bones leaves tongues wagging. Indeed we must also remember that government has woefully failed to redeem this economy from deep recession. In fact the added pain of IMF prescriptions is pushing everyone to the wall. Doctors must therefore be realistic while government must cut down on perks which our colonial masters have abandoned.

  I would have taken you just a bit serious, if you had even made reference to both huge and fat increase in salary and benefits that politicians gave themselves, starting from mahama to his appointees to parliament.
  
  So you think doctors in public sector do not have a right to demand COS.

I do walk 24km in n out everyday to work.is time the government train more doctors so that when they walk under this hot sun in search of job they will stop misbehaving.BY THE WAY WHY WONT THEY RESIGN?

Well, I am wondering where you will get the lecturers to teach since most of them are doctors and may I remind you it takes 6years for the training. More so, you donot have the facilities or the resources to train more doctors.
  They are people just like you who talk nonsense without facts, if you really want to compare salaries of doctors and other government (especially the staff at the presidency) go to accountant general for proper prove and you will be surprise how much government doctors earned in this country. Compared to their own colleagues in private hospitals, who earn between 50% - 100% more , meanwhile they were all trained in the same classroom. My advise to doctors is resign and move to private practice.

  Just google salaries of public doctors in Brazil..$912,Tunisia $500..India..$392..Egypt.$170.You will realise that by third world standards the Ghanaian doctor reigns supreme with a hefty 1100 dollars a month.A lot more than his counterparts in the above listed countries.Bear in mind that Egypt"s economy is 8 times bigger than that of Ghana.Tell you what? The government should have the guts to revoke their passports.If they want to cut their noses to spite their faces,let us help them!

  My understanding is that the issues the GMA has brought to the public's attention has been a situation that has been brewing for years and it's not until a few doctors recently that have met their demise and were not taken care of that this has pushed the situation to strike action.
  
  You presented no government culpability into this situation. None. There are two parties in this negotiation. And yet we're supposed to believe the doctors are being greedy?
  
  This is a negotiation with a history that started before today. It is not an oversimplified Angel versus the Devil negotiation.

This will prevent this evil group calling itself GMA to repent. There are many in that group who are presently not earning their salary. They just hide behind GMA and illegally enriching themselves.

  you're very on point. if you were in the negotiation team you could offer a very credible solution to the problem.I think this is an opportunity for government to have sacked them and reengage the interested doctors.
