They did not start as a communist country. You pay as you use. You are the same person who insulted the government for liberalizing the fuel trade. Why. Look at the fuel subsidies. How can the country develop? Foolish talk.

Sometimes when one reads pieces like this one cannot help but join the band wagon that perpetuates this woe-and-gloom narrative. But this is not helpful. This sad, very sad, because good ole uncle sidney aught to know and I believe he knows the root causes.
It has nothing to do with politics. It has everything to do with the people. We are a people who never really moved from our basic local tribal mind sets to modern living. Where ignorance and crass stupidity is entrenched and celebrated. Think for a moment: Consider the near constant harassment of the Person of the current president by all manner of nincompoops, the near lynching of former president Kuffour by all manner of crazy folks. Or imagine if Kwame Nkrumah had survived, just like Lee Kwan Yew and had even continued just 20% of his devt projects. No! Right now all everyone wants is for us to get rid of Mahama and bring in Nana then if things dont work out in another 5 years we will be exactly where are right now.
In 2007 when Kuffour had things stabilized a little bit what happened? Suddenly everyone thought it must be really easy and lucrative so over 9 NPP "chiefs" a;; wanted to be president. A recipe for disaster and the beginning of our problems.
Imagine if this was not Ghana but Singapore and Kuffour had found a way to remain in power either through Putin-like shuffles or even through a surrogate ( Aliu? Nana?..)
But no!NDC had to come. The bigger outside world also changed. BUT THE GHANAIAN STILL BELIEVED HE CAN CONTINUE THE BONANZA OF KUFFOUR with free credit/grants/loans/budget etc. Actually I think we should be glad now. It is going to get worse and worse because now everybody "mouth " is wide open. Sad truly sad!

It very sad,and sad indeed. Our Gold,Diamond,Bauxite,Manganese,Oil,Timber,Taxes and Cocoa proceeds not paying for our debt and but President Ali Baba John Mahama borrowing to pay for non-existing debt to not to develop the country.Borrowing from International market or institutions like IMF and World Bank payment start after 10 years and finish paying within 20 years.More also parliament is failing Ghana big time for not demanding documents and also demand accountability but rather help president Ali Baba John Mahama to steal out money. It is Shocking to hear President Ali Baba John Mahama borrowing GHC23.8 billion to pay debt which we have no idea of what debt we are paying.

READ: "...the Government is at war with the Ghana Medical Association. Over what? A proposal for negotiation in 2016. Several people have already lost their lives and our President with blood on his hands, just as culpable as the doctors, thinks this is the time to demonstrate budget ignorance and play hardball. And yet we have no written conditions of service for these doctors in twenty-three years..."
WE SAY: That is the crux of the standstill. It is unbelievable. It is as if there are no competent lawyers and other professionals within the government with enough common sense to negotiate with the doctors.
And to learn that a member of Mr. Mahama's government actually posted the contract under negotiation on his personal Facebook page. And Mr. Mahama has not seen fit to tame that idiot, that tells me this NDC government is going adrift.
Then, to hear the fella from IMANI, Franklin Cudjoe justify that Facebook post as a public interest item...that one reminded me about the story of the absent-minded kissing sycophant!
IMANI lost my vote on that one!
So, imagine, a government bent on so-called liberalization of the economy still finds it convenient and helpful to requisition doctors from so-called "Communist Cuba".
BTW - What happened to all the equipment they imported into the country, and the "share" given to Mr. Mahama's brother without public cause, or contract, even?
Cheap talk. Always making noise
