  A friend of mine is a nurse in the country hospital, and she has not any pay for close to two months. And even that is only $500 per month. The medical profession in Ghana is grossly underpaid and the government is holding out money. And at a time when colera is gaining there. By not paying is not negotiation, it is bullying. If the nurses and doctors had fair pay, and the government negotiated in fair process, nobody would have died. And threats of scab labor from another country is not fair. A strong medical system is important, and fair pay for hard work is only right. And so is full pay for work already done. Perhaps the Ghana people can get a fair and just government in the next elections.

  I have always stayed clear off issues bothering on politics and the like but I must say that this government's approach to resolving the the doctors' concerns has been very disappointing. The doctors have a case, obviously, and though their approach might not be the best they the way and manner people in government defiled them is so dehumanizing. I am glad tempers are calming and welcomes their decision to call off the strike and anyone willing to point fingers at someone for the needles death of noble citizens should do so with introspection and objective critical analysis. I believe government bears the larger blame in this respect since it was their lackadaisical attitude and strings of failed promises to the GMA that led to the strike of the latter in the first place. They (gov.) must bow in shame for their gross lack of maturity. Nice write up though, kudos!
