"Sometimes, you wonder what God actually gave us brains for." Who are you speaking for? Why don't you replace "us" with "me," yourself, and "brains" with "brain," yours. You know what? There millions of Africans (Ghanaians) who are not like you. Millions of Africans who have very sharp and highly productive brains, so please speak for yourself! I always wonder what sort of "brain" you have to argue shallowly and cluelessly the way you always do!

While speaking on Asempa FM’s ‘Ekosii Sen’ political programme in Accra at the end of last week former President John Kofi Diawuo Agyekum Kufuor denied sharing properties under the affordable housing scheme his government built among his cronies. While at it, he dared his critics to publish the list for Ghanaians to ascertain the truth. “I know we did nothing wrong and I challenge our people on the other side to publish the list of beneficiaries for the whole world to see” he stated.

Today, we are calling the bluff of former President Kofi Diawuo Kufuor. We publish below, the list of beneficiaries. The offer letters were signed by Hon. Abubakar Saddique Boniface on or around 18th. December 2008, when the NPP knew that they were about to lose the second round of the Presidential Elections. We have copies of the letters with the signature of the then NPP Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing. If they dare us, we will publish them.

Segregated schools can also be a pipeline to prison...The Altarum analysis...found that, by 2030, closing the minority earnings gap would increase federal tax revenues by over $1 trillion and that even a 10% reduction in federal Medicaid and income support would reduce these safety net expenditures by nearly $100 billion. The increase in tax revenues and decrease in outlays would combine to produce over $1.1 trillion dollars annually that could be used to reduce the debt, lower taxes, or shift spending to other priorities.

WE SAY: Great lessons there!

We imagine the same types of studies could be accomplished in Ghana, about Ghana/about "Baidoo-Socialist Tribalism" and "Corruption". But we are guessing Civil-Libertarian Phillip Kobina Baidoo will tell us there is no money in that - no economic benefit to free enterprise.

Further, if capitalism and free enterprise, as Mr. Baidoo decrees, could solve racism (in America - most capitalist economy), we would never have needed MLK, or any number of heroes (Black, White, Brown) who gave their lives fighting against racism and oppression in America. And we certainly would not need "Black Lives Matter". Fortunately, most people are not as absent-minded as Mr. Phillip Kobina Baidoo who, as he tells us, lives in London.

A well researched & written piece.
Dr. Heckman's observation "Investing early allows us to shape the future and build equity
, investing later chains us to fixing the missed opportunities of the past" is so true in our country. We are currently paying dearly for our miseducation couple of decades ago. Not to mention the missed opportunities for our unemployed graduates & drop-outs.

On a personal level, I experienced racial discrimination in Washington DC,when I
complained to my boss for calling me Sambo.
I jokingly said my mother wasn't Black Mumbo & my father wasn't Black Jumbo, and I received a pink slip the next day.

My next encounter with discrimination was in Baltimore, when I was stopped by the police.
A Blackman "in fugu driving a Volvo" was enough for a stop & search.

The unfortunate fact of the matter is some whites throughout the world discriminate against nonwhites.
That has to change!

A very informative essay although those of us who live or have lived in the thick of racist American communities are very familiar with prejudice or downright racism in education, housing, health, employment, DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) and in business because we had been directly affected by one or the other. For example, through “color coding” an applicant’s job application could be ignored/by-passed for another applicant of a different race. Green, blue, purple and orange stripes affixed on the application by the receptionist could/ would symbolize the specific race of each applicant. Other employers use the standard questionnaire that requires info on your ethnicity – ironically, such questionnaire states that the business seeking applicants is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Here’s our cold comfort: if after all these years America has never figured out the benefits/ profitability in breaking down the socio-political inequities or disparities in the economy, or if they have known the potential gains all along and prefer the status quo, then we in Ghana should not be surprised our leaders are equally clueless what to do – intelligence comes in different forms, shapes and sizes (lol).

By the way, a major stumbling block to progress Ghana and other African countries face that most European and even some Asian countries do not encounter is the number of indigenous languages our people speak; we can never agree upon one language because each ethnic group believes their language defines them and therefore ought to be the national language. Unless we come to agreement about that, there will be little progress as we are forced to be using an alien language to express African customs, norms, and emotions.
