Google:How Britain Got GT For Vodafone and you will not be surprised how Ghanaian politicians, lawyers, top civil servants are stealing the Countries resources. In this particular case, we learned Telekom SA, South Africa offered a bid in excess of $1.28b but lost out to Vodafone, whose initial bid was rejected. However, when the British Government leaned on Kufuor, Ghana Telecom ( GT), was finally given to Vodafone on the cheap for $ 900m in addition to the fibre optic which would earned extra revenue for the Country. Folks, from the above it's very clear that behind the scenes Kufuor and his officials will tell Vodafone that Telekom SA has offered $1.28b but we will let you have GT if you can offer $1.00b. But, we have to declare $900m as the final offer to the people of Ghana. The $100m difference is what these smart criminals make. Otherwise, there is no sense in anyone such as KT Hammond and gang of thieves refusal to accept a higher bid and rather go for the lowest.

Bernard,
Thanks for the comment.
As our note from the Univ. of Texas School of Law shows, "...1. Production Sharing Agreements recognize that drilling wells across lease and unit lines will encourage further development, prevent waste, prevent the drilling of unnecessary wells, increase ultimate recovery of hydrocarbons, and protect correlative rights. Production Sharing Agreements describe the method by which interest owners will share in production from the wells. Production Sharing Agreements generally affect only production from a well that crosses leases or units..." (Jowers and Olmstead, 2013).
Fact is, the more unnecessary work the Oil company does, the more the cost to the owner of the resource (Ghana), with little impact to the profit of the Oil company's bottomline.
ITEM: Sometimes the loud-mouth is shut with an offer the loud-mouth can't refuse.
Mr. Hammond at one point seemed to be concerned about possible theft by Tullow. So, we will never understand how he does not understand that the PSA is today the global standard.
What is also shocking is, the minority appearing to have so much say so, in this case. Mr. Mahama's NDC is ultimately responsible for any loss, just as Mr. Kuffour was, in the example you gave.
Greetings!

Well said Bernard but u displayed gross ignorance in what constitutes evaluation of contracts of such magnitude. In evaluating who wins a bid price is only one factor that is being considered. The other considerations include amount of investment to bring in apart from the initial sale amount, the technology to be deployed, the track record of the firms bidding, the business plan or proposal, the sharing formula, composition of staff nationalities, board representation etc. Points are assigned to each of these variables and aggregated to come up with the winner.
It will be naive to just say bcos telecom south Africa had the biggest purchase price it shd have been given the contract. Things don't work that way.

While speaking on Asempa FM’s ‘Ekosii Sen’ political programme in Accra at the end of last week former President John Kofi Diawuo Agyekum Kufuor denied sharing properties under the affordable housing scheme his government built among his cronies. While at it, he dared his critics to publish the list for Ghanaians to ascertain the truth. “I know we did nothing wrong and I challenge our people on the other side to publish the list of beneficiaries for the whole world to see” he stated.
Today, we are calling the bluff of former President Kofi Diawuo Kufuor. We publish below, the list of beneficiaries. The offer letters were signed by Hon. Abubakar Saddique Boniface on or around 18th. December 2008, when the NPP knew that they were about to lose the second round of the Presidential Elections. We have copies of the letters with the signature of the then NPP Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing. If they dare us, we will publish them.
C8/1 Block C, Borteyman, Nungua Accra
Out of 113 allocations, 64 of them were allocated to the children and people working for ex- President Kufuor. 18 were allocated to persons under Aliu Mahama. The remainder were for NPP Ministers and their relatives, party people and friends.
Next time Ex-President Kufuor opens his mouth to deny that there was corruption under his administration, he should be careful about daring people.

On this item, Ghana Oil, we will hold NDC accountable if they fail to adopt the PSA.
There can not be two ways about that.
Greetings, francis kwarteng.
