Thank you Mohammed. This young man joining Isis must serve as a wake up call for Ghana. Out layback attitudes and not taking things seriously when it calls for it must stop. This guy's contacts and all others suspected to be dealing with extremist ideas must be monitored or even arrested. We can't afford another boko haram on top of Ghana's many woes. Combating terrorism is costly & this country is already at its last rope.

I urge the government to ban this group with immediate effect because they preach the "Salafist" ideology that produced Al-Qaeda, IS, Al-Shabab, Boko Haram and many more. I was alarmed to hear that they are given official permit to go round the country to preach their poisonous and backward interpretation of Islam and region as a whole. They are allowed to introduce their barbaric understanding of religion to unsuspecting Muslim youths in order to use them to fight for political power in the name of religion to destroy our country
The guy was lying when he said: "Our main source of funding has been the general public who donate to us both in cash and in kind." The truth is that, they get their funding from Arab countries and Saudi Arabia in particular. And whatever learning material they supply to the youth is based on the poisonous "Salafist" understanding of Islam, which will turn them into foot-soldiers for Jihadism when the time comes. It is already happening and the authorities must take note.

What makes Ghana vulnerable as fertile grounds for radicalism and Islamic fundamentalism can be found in the same situation that the nation found itself in in 1979 when Rawlings was able to remove the military junta that ruled the nation. In short the youths of the nation are underemployed and largely redundant. There has never been a meaningful approach at establishing a program for the youths of the nation. SADA, GYEEDA and all the DAs have merely become waste pipes. YES is even worse because it lacks focus. ISIL and its partners around the world have plenty of opportunity in countries like Ghana.

Ok put on the brakes, Mubarik....don't go off making assertions you can't possibly collaborate with concrete evidence. The geographical proximity of Ghana to Nigeria and other nations where terrorism is rife doesn't in the least suggest susceptibility...what you should have mentioned is radicalism among the millions of Moslems in Ghana and that is improbable. Youth unemployment? No way, my friend. Unemployment has been a regular feature of life in Ghana for decades and the youth have not exactly rioted.
They may be malcontents, but the young muslims of Ghana aren't your father's idiots...they can discern good from evil and therefore would be reluctant to offer their services to radical muslims....you are in essence underrating their intelligence and ability to think for themselves......

Scanning thoroughly and cautiously through the 'piece', i am forced to largely agree with you as well as Mubarik. However, i wish to state emphatically without mincing words that young muslims in Ghana are not immune to radicalism and its associated violence. This assertion is informed, and strengthened by the Ghanaian victims of ISIL who turned out to be no other religious adherents than Islam. This is not to say that christians, traditionalists, inter alia, are beyond susceptibility.
