  Most Ghanaians in particular and Africans in general do not face facts, neither can we tackle the bull by the horns but rather prefer to beat around the bush. It is a fact that any nation that contributes to the betrayal leading to the death of her seers and prophets get cursed for some time until the people come to realize their folly.
  Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah was a seer and dug a well for Ghana but because of our lack of faith and our betrayal, the well he dug for Ghana dried up after his death in 1972. It was after his death that we started to cry for water. The exodus of Ghanaians, intellectuals and all others started seriously after the man's untimely death. People who went abroad to study in Nkrumah's time were eager to come back to Ghana because they saw opportunities in all fields. Nkrumah followed an African ideology which enabled him to plan the development of Ghana.
  After Nkrumah, there had never been any leader in Ghana who had an independent mind about Ghana's development. They were mere puppets on "ropes" amd evem Kutu Acheampong's so called Operation Feed Yourself (OFY) was not going to take Ghana. anywhere. OFY was just an act of a desperate regime. All of a sudden, institutions like Secondary Schools had part of the school land cleared and students were expected to go and work on the land. Wouldm't it have been better if Agricultural Science was thought to interested students for them to use their knowledge and provided equipment to learn as well as manage school farms?
  Why was Nkrumah's Workers Brigade abandoned and then Busia comes in and tell the youth to go into farming? What capital did the youth have to go into large scale farming as is required in these days? A young independent country must assess her needs and plan according to her own feasible ideas and that was what Nkrumah did and the contrally is what all other governments after Nkrumah have been doing. The foundations that Nkrumah built, not excluding the machinery he acquired, were left to rot or rust. All our trees are nowhere to be found now having been no replacement through tree planting. Nkrumah's regime did more tree planting than all the successive governments.
  Nkrumah wanted us to have an economy where we used our local raw materials to have finished products and that meant a lot of jobs for all.
  All that he left was sold by the subsequent politicians and soldiers to themselves or cronies as well as their neo-colonialist masters and turn to blame Kwame Nkrumah. Let them tell me if Ghana will still be exporting cocoa beans if Nkrumah with his Cocoa Products Factory had been allowed to expand. Imagine how many quality schools and universities would be engaged in research for our factories.
  Unless we face facts and adopt Nkrumah's ideas and negotiation tactics there is no way we can stop the exodus of people through the inhospitable terrains. Nkrumah will forever remain the yardstick for our freedom, independence and development as a nation.

  As Samia as already said, Osagyefo left us with the blueprint. All we have to do is to apply it creatively to solve our problems.

  How could Busia promote farming in Ghana when it was he and the NLC "khaki boys" who jettisoned entirely Nkrumah's agricultural policy, destroying the Nkrumah-established state farms, abolishing the Worker's Brigade farmers that worked those farms, even imprisoning some of them, wickedly letting rust thousands of tractors and other mechanized implements imported from the Eastern European countries? And do you remember the giant silos to store grains and save the harvest from rotting as happens every year in Ghana while people are malnourished and starving?
  
  Please get a copy of the Seven Year Development Plan. In it you will see that the great Osagyefo even planned to turn the Northern Region into the "bread basket" of Ghana.
  
  We destroyed Nkrumah's industries, we destroyed his Agric plan, we destroyed everything with his name on it, and now we wonder why there is so much unemployment and the youth wanting to risk dying in the Sahara and the Mediterranean sea to reach greener pastures?
