  Wow.....you're right on point! These people will go round the country and come back to their offices empty-handed. They'll then produce their own version of a dev. plan for Ghana!

  From my readings and listening to interviews, your suggestions are not different from what the NDPC intends to do. Your reference to the statements of the political parties are being the outcome of the Kumasi consultation is rather misleading. The statements you referred to were more or less solidarity messages and preceded the group discussions where ideas for the long term plan were sought.

  Kweku, the author is suggesting something new - workshops, survey questionnaires etc. Has the NDPC done any of these? Encourage the writer to share his knowledge and stop discouraging him!

  THe public consultation is meant to involve the entire Ghanaian society in the preparation for the plan.

  Dr. Seth Appiah-Opoku is 100% right, absolutely, the NDPC must at all cost, keep its eyes on the ball - the planning process; as he aptly asserted, this will allow Ghanaians "to decide a time for the proposed plan instead of what appears to be an imposition of a 40 - year time span."
  The nation needs enough time to conduct public opinion polls, online survey questionnaires,interview questionnaires from a cross section of Ghanains - drivers, market women, farmers, students, fisher-folks, doctors, workers, journalists, armed forces, the business class & faith-based organizations.

  I fully agree with the writer. The NDPC must find a way to reach and gather as much ideas as possible. Unstructured public forum is like fetching water with a basket. You'll come home empty!
