  Barely a day ago it was reported that a man was arrested in Takoradi who is known to falsify results for students to gain university admissions. There were students who sought to study law but were offered some other subjects.
  
  This incident highlights problems with a national education policy that is driven by old era policies intended to limit the number of university entry level qualified applicants which then drive the cottage industry of bribes by the rich and powerful families in Ghana to get their wards into schools and programs otherwise unattainable by the mostly poor Ghanaians. We know for a fact that Ghanaians with 'O' level credentials and others purported not to have obtained desired grades at the 'A' level have gone on to earn university degrees in the USA, Canada and universities across Europe so what gives? The fact that we have a policy of university degree or be relegated to the undesirable existence in Ghana fuels limits to development and human progress. Private employers in Ghana wish to exploit the abundance of unemployed educated and the not so educated Ghanaian even as they fail to reward and encourage employees to take continued education classes. They also fail to have polytechnics, technical trade schools and universities help create course work that will train students to acquire skills they pretend are in short supply.
  
  We're a nation where office work is rewarded and the trade skills like carpentry, plumbing, auto mechanics, construction and a host of others that drive economic engines in civilized industrialized nations are not held in high esteem. In the end we have top loaded bureacrates who are as incapable of productive work as the so called unskilled and uneducated class.
