  The British founded Kumasi College of Technology in 1952 and in 1961 Nkrumah converted it to KNUST as a full-fledged university with Dr R.P.Baffour as its first Vice-Chancellor.I hope you know the difference.

  When was KNUST established? The website of the university says it was established as a university college in 1952. By 1955 it was preparing students to take the Bachelor of engineering degree of the University of London. Of course, it was not then called KNUST but it was a university much as Legon was a university then too.
  
  It became an independent university in 1962 and called KNUST. But its founding is still dated to 1952.
  
  Well, I saw that on their website. What do you say, Kwame?

Then I mentioned some of the metrics these agencies use - no of publications, citations, web presence, etc. Even then I stated twice that these rankings are controversial. Your objection is a testimony to that.
  
  Why African universities don't do well in the world rankings? Paapidi, don't you think that deserves a completely different article, not the one I wrote? Even then I gave some hints: prejudice against them; the African university may have different requirements and goals... There certainly are more reasons which I could have discussed if I were writing about that.
  
  Jaundiced academically? An article that raises one university above the others must necessarily be "jaundiced" in some way. Can it be otherwise, Paapidi? That is why the British rankings give greater weight to their own universities. The U.S. rankings also do the same. The ranking agencies may state their methodologies and measure the metrics they use but there is a dose of subjectivity in each of them. No matter how you measure these things, someone will find them jaundiced. I think that came out in my article. You can point out the incorrectness of a factual info (like the date KNUST was founded) but everything else is a bit judgmental.
