  Yes Dr. Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe Ghanaians do not attend schools to master the Queen's language and why should we? I do not know of any other continent of nations that spend this much time trying to master the English language at the expense of wasted scarce resources on subjects that mattered. It is not done in Germany or any other non English speaking European nations neither is it the case in India, Japan, China, South American nations and elsewhere.
  
  Yet those nations have gotten good at the sciences via local national dialects which has pushed their citizens to the fore of desired migrants in the era of preferred educated cheap labour sources for the Americas. In your corner of the US there are many people in management at almost every company, the global and the not so global companies, that have not mastered even the American English and or hired/employed specialists from other nations of the world who could not compete with Ghanaian post secondary graduates in either spoken or written English. We cannot continue to beat ourselves on mastering the English language while we barely make it in the sciences and related subjects. We do okay with English which is not our native language even as people across the board in Ghana, from makola to executive offices try to communicate in English, poorly as they may be even as they struggle to add or understand why why garbage dumps in their neighborhood or stagnant drainage systems are a source of diseases and lower life expectancy. English is not what it is cracked up to be nor the gateway to the sciences or any other subject.
