Good article I must admit. Fighting corruption should be the concern for every patriotic citizen in every country.
It therefore brings into doubt about the patriotism of Ghanains right from the presidency, through to the traditional rulers and down to the ordinary citizen. The pervasive nature of corruption really makes one wonder if we have patriots in this country. From the presidency without exception to any regime, various convoluted and lopesided agreement have been signed which are not in the interest of mother Ghana.
Our traditional rulers, polticians and unscrupulous local businessmen have fronted for foriegners to strip and ruin our lands for gold to the extent that, our water bodies have been heavily polluted with poisonous chemicals , thus denying the communities of portable water . All of these activities are motivated by the greed of our corrupt leaders.
One effective solution to the widespread corruption is for govt to establish a data base of all citizens and their assets so that if any person acquires any property or disposes off any asset, the data base captures both the old and new owners . If some one is acquiring any property,it should be within his legitimate income. In the USA or UK, the system would easily trace and investigate any unusual inflows into your account. The account holder would have to prove how he came by such monies. We need such a system to fight corruption in Ghana. In todays Ghana, an individual can deposit GHC 1 Million into his personal account without the bank ever questioning the source. People are acquiring properties that if they had to work for two hundred years, their salaries can never support the cost of such projects. Today, civil servants own fuel stations that cost millions of cedis. When individuals and civil society question the source of income, these corrupt people say society is envious of their ill-gotten wealth.
The danger about corruptio is that, it entails moral decadence in its trail. Corrupt people turn not to respect societal norms.
Corruption can also an agent of inflation just like illicit drug trade. Wealth from corrupt deals is seen as cheap money hence when the beneficiaries are buying land or houses, they hardly care about bargaining for the true value of the property. It can be seen that prices of properties in Ghana are bloated for this reason..
In sum, the fight against corruption should be a concern for every well meaning Ghanaian. We shall never see the expected development if corruption is made a companion in our society. We must eschew nonchalance and pasivity .The crusade should not be left for Anas Armeyawo and Martin Amidu Alone.

Great explaination. I hope those in authority to make changes are taking note. Where is the President in all this. He seems to not care.
