  I don't know what the Nkrumaists smoke when they lie that "Nkrumah vigorously promoted equality before the law."
  
  The truth is that the man thought himself a god, incarcerated his opponents without trial and overturned the judiciary, turning himself into the ultimate law of the land.
  
  Under such dictatorial posturing, how is it possible for you octogenarian mountebank to lie that Nkrumah knew about equality before the law?
  
  Hasn't the propaganda you imbibed from Nkrumah attenuated after all these years?

  This is a frank admission from someone who has been an Nkrumaist long before the later day Nkrumaists on ghanaweb were born. This admission does not mean Asante wants to detract from the achievements of the Osagyefo. No!
  
  If only these later-day Nkrumaists can, at times, admit and discuss the areas where Nkrumah failed, we will all become the wiser. Asante talks about the particular provisions in our current constitution which were responses to the failures of the earlier system. He didn't discuss this much because that is not the main concern of the article.
  
  One of Nkrumah's failures was in his inability (or failure?) to tackle corruption the moment it started rearing its proverbial ugly head. This started within the ranks of the CPP even before independence. It only increased as the party assumed greater state power after independence and the institution of the one party state. Nkrumah was aware of this especially after 1960. He tried doing something about it but it seems it was too little and clearly inadequate. While the man himself could not be accused of amassing ill-gotten wealth, this singular inability to adequately deal with the problem may have laid the seeds to the widespread corruption that we are seeing today which has engulfed the judiciary - the body that should have helped in fighting the problem.
  
  It is said that Nkrumah had intended to give the problem priority attention after the Hanoi trip. Well, we all know what happened. But even then, he would still have found it difficult to combat. Some of the difficulty can be linked to the very structure of the one-party state that he presided over.

  Anas should report the case to the police? That won't do. The police are in cahoots with the judges to subvert justice. Everybody knows that. Anas has done the right thing by going to the highest echelons of the judiciary to ask them to clean their house. Even this wouldn't have worked if the threat of public exposure had not been invoked. They would've made it an internal matter and hushed over it without the public becoming any wiser.
  
  When the matter eventually comes to court, then the indicted judges should be treated equally before the law.
  
  Anas did right. I think he was given good advice as to how to deal with his findings.

  As you say, only the President under the Constitution has a special place, but only when he/she is the President.
  
  Also, we believe that the Chief Justice, after her review and determination of guilt/fault, ought to refer the cases to the police for prosecution, for criminal offences under the law, other ethical violation.
