  Anyway, your grasp of River Blindness therapies are quite admirable, considering your background.
  
  The disease is basically a filarial worm infection. Banocide (medical name: Diethylcarbamazine) is quite effective against filarial worms.
  
  But the worms have a sort of "satanic pact" with some bacteria called "Wolbachia". And that is where doxycycline comes in. This agent wipes out the bacteria depriving the filarial worm of a very essential support system.

  Where do I begin? I do hope Dr. Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe has the time, if ever so often, to read his postings. I read with concern most of Dr. Kwame's posts because it is scary thought knowing this man has roots in Ghana and loyal fans in the Eastern region of Ghana where development is scarce even while claiming the corner market on intelligence for his tribesmen.
  
  I am yet to find in any research or historic literature where Germany's rise to industrialization was centered or initiated by Germans who migrated to the UK, the USA or other English-speaking nation to perfect and master English, English literature or creative writing. So if Dr. Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe thinks Ghana's universities are lagging behind at education, government and development and with his disdain for his childhood ailment he could have perused studies in the sciences. But who am I to notice the inconsequential contributions to developments in Ghana by Dr. Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe. We could have been contenders for the top prize if Dr. Kwamie had pursued a rather worthy field deserving of his sharp tongue instead of what he uses to play roles of the house negro.

  Dr Okoampa-Ahoofe, the Onchocerciasis[river blindness] may have diminished your vision, but it did not diminish the vision of research collaborative venture. It doesn't matter whether KNUST researchers played a far less scientific role, and regardless of the advanced research technology University of Bonn, Germany brought to the table, overall, this is an important advance for Ghana's clinical and research development. It offers hope for sight loss caused by river blindness.
  
  Your lacerating contempt for KNUST research team in this collaborative venture, essentially, sums you up.
