What we have now in Ghana is not Westminister-style democracy. We the American-style democracy where in Ghana's case, JJ Rawlings made sure that absolute power resided in the Presidency. In the British Westminister-style democracy, power is vested in Parliament, whereas in Ghana-style democracy Parliament is toothless. JJ Rawlings took the beautiful American-style democracy that works so well and tweaked it for his own selfish ends. In the American-style democracy, the Senate controls the purse strings and the Senate can use the control of the purse strings as a deterrent of the Presidency is out of line. But in Ghana, the Presidency controls the Consolidated Account, which is equal to the US Treasury (purse strings), and there has never been a democracy in the world where the Presidency controls purse string. But such is the case in Ghana.
The abuse Ghana's democracy has endured in the hands of particularly JA Kufuor and JJ Rawlings is beyond description. Because the Presidency controls the Consolidated Account, Parliament (our people's representatives) have no say on how funds are allocated to development projects, and in most cases may not know how much is in the Account. Have Ghanaians asked why the Consolidated Account was empty when JJ Rawlings lost the election in 2000, and again why the Consolidated Account was empty when JA Kufuor's NPP lost power in 2008? Why are Ghanaians not asking such pertinent questions?
Unless we reform the Constitution and change the present the diluted American-style democracy to Westminister-style democracy where absolute power is vested in Parliament, we are doomed for good, because rogues like JA Kufuor and JJ Rawlings, and who knows, perhaps the twerp Mahama will all take us to the cleaners.

That you even bother to quote from these hare-brained errand boys of global imperialism, tells me that somewhere in your own naive mind, you credit them with some amount of moral innocence and political credibility.
Do you seriously think that those cheap mercenaries in that organization do not know that the putrid views that they express are dishonest lies that are simply aimed at tarnishing the image of Kwame Nkrumah?
Has it not seriously crossed your mind that the rubbish that they persistently throw out in the public domain day in and day out against Kwame Nkrumah, are tasks for which they, like Danquah and Busia and Obetsebi-Lamptey and Afrifa et al, are being paid for? And under such circumstances, do you think that pleading with their listless brains will have any positive effects? Such people should not be handled with kid gloves, you do so at your own peril. They must be dealt with, frontally and decisively – as enemies of the state and obstructionists of the progress of Africa.
Bringing up the subject of Founders Day and describing it as a ‘controversial’ subject made me even more sceptical about your person and your stance. I discern that you are considerably sympathetic to the obscene cause of those shameless people who are in the same breath, against the granting of the independence of Ghana, whilst at the same time these unprincipled opportunists make all sorts of ludicrous claims to the realization of that most extraordinary historical event.
