  We know that you Nkrumaists find no pride in democracy since your icon was an arrant dictator; but for us civil Ghanaians, the present democratic dispensation is our greatest heritage, bequeathed to us through the blood and toil of J. B. Danquah and the rest.
  
  President Mahamah had every right to tout our democracy on the world stage. And those of you who supported Nkrumah's tyranny should always bow your heads in shame.

  This is a beautifully written article couched in diplomatic niceties. The language is exquisite, and though it may seem harmless it is an absolute indictment of President Mahama's ability to lead our country.
  
  As I have said many times on this platform, John Mahama is running everywhere like a chicken with the head cut off with no conviction of purpose. I do not believe for a moment that this man, John Mahama, has any ideological base, or political and economic pholosophy. Who is really John Mahama I may ask? What is Mahama's political philosophy? Is he a populist or a libertarian? And can we classify him as an elitist or a pluralist? In fact, this brings me back to the inane practice of Ghana's political parties choosing a VP candidate from the northern and upper regions of the country. The question that keeps me awake all the time in discussing Ghana politics is, how did John Mahama become president of Ghana. A man of very low moral fibre, who has no political philosophy of his own, and absolutely discombobulated as a person. Yes, he assumed the presidency by default some might say, but not really. A VP is a President in waiting, and no civilized democracy in the world would choose its VP by the quota system. It is stupid and reckless to say the least.
  
  This brings me to the quote at the beginning of my posting by the author of this article, K.B. Asante.
  
  There is no question in my mind that the 1992 Constitution must be dumped into the garbage if we the people in this country want to see progress. We need a fresh Constitution unencumbered by anyone person. If we have an incompetent yet dubious and duplicitous John Mahama in the helm with absolute power in the Presidency, then folks, we are in big trouble. But all thanks to the madness of JJ Rawlings who took the beautiful American-style democracy with its inherent checks and balances and tweaked it to serve his own selfish interest. We must lay the blame of government squarely at the feet of JJ Rawlings for the promulgation of the 1992 Constitution. Rawlings made sure that absolute power vested in the Presidency and that Ghana's Parliament (the peoples' representatives) became a rubber stamp of the Presidency's profligacy.
  
  What Ghana needs now is the Westminister-style democracy where power is vested in Parliament, and not the Presidency. Until we change Ghana's Constitution, thieves like JA Kufuor, JJ Rawlings, Mahama and his morons in NDC will always have the opportunity under the present Constitution to take the country to the cleaners. The rogue JJ Rawlings made sure that there are no checks and balances as far as the Presidency is concerned. Where in the world in any democracy, does the Presidency have absolute control of
  the Consolidated Account (the Treasury). It is only in Rawlings' Ghana.
