Kuan Yew was practicl; embraced the west and made his country hospital to western investors. Meanwhile you osagyefo was busy turning private companies into state companies, harrassing investors, embracing promoting socialism and meddling in cold war politics -- angering the united states.

First of all, Singapore has never been a democratic state. Singapore has always been a one-party state right from independence. Lee Kwan Yew was Prime Minister of Singapore from June 3, 1959 to November 28, 1990; some 31 years. This is the only reason Singapore is what it is today. If Dr. Nkrumah had stayed in power for 31 years and completed his economic agenda as Lee Kwan Yew did, Ghana would be a different place altogether. Dr. Nkrumah spend only 9 years as President of Ghana and we all know what he was able to achieve for the country.
Lee Kwan Yew was a Benevolent Dictator. He jailed all opposition that stood in his way. If Nkrumah had jailed the JB Danquahs, the Busias, and the Osei Akotos of the Matemeho fraternity and completed his development agenda for the country, I bet our country would be a showpiece of Africa by now.
But the stupid Ghanaian can still not comprehend the fact that Lee Kwan Yew used dictatorship to build Singapore. What an idiotic comment that Osagyefo was busy turning private companies into state companies... You should be ashamed of your ignorance and stupidity. The richest countries in Europe are all socialist countries - Sweden, Denmark, Finland, etc. What do you know, bozo?

is a dumb ignorant article. the writer did not do his homework. how do you compare Kwame Nkrumah to Lee Kuan Yee? Nkrumah did bankrupt Ghana's economy. He was bequeathed a healthy and large foreign exchange reserves but by the time of his overthrow, Ghana was in serious debt. he nationalized companies and set up all these state owned companies that did not work. Lee Kuan Yee embraced the western companies and made his country hospital to foreign investment. But Nkrumah was busy antagonizing the west, evicting westerners from Ghana on suspicion that they were CIA agents. So this writer makes such a dumb comparison and draws a dumb conclusion that dictatorship is better than democracy. What a stupid article! I wish Nkrumah has done to your father what he did to JB Danquah and co. Lee Kuan Yew was a pragmatist who embraced capitalism and the west. Singapore flourished because of his economic policies, not because of his mild dictatorship. Nkrumah was a brutal dictator who practiced socialism.His brutal dictatorship and bad economic policies destroyed Ghana.
