The Minister for Education is an old girl of WGHS.
The issues raised are noteworthy. MoE should look again at the computerised section system, the protocol, and the reservation of places for local students. This last policy is redundant with the establishment of community day secondary schools - there should now be places for more students who qualify for SHS.
It is significant that the Headmaster of Mfantsipim called for a return to the old system of admissions where schools determined their own intake.

Why Ghanaians don't want anything new..I am kind of wondering:if we don't change out old way of doing things, how can the nation move one step to another..our inability to adopt new is our situation one..every new idea have implication but by and by it will get better ..so the idea of staying the old system of selecting student is could slow the process since Ghana population of SHS students has quardrriple afte 3decade ago..I believe community day sec. Is great idea releasing conjunction to existing school and finally we should avoid stigmatize our school .it doesn't matter where u get your is all the same education..our ability not recognize other school is as the result congestion of big name school since every MP, Miinister prefer the big name school to educate their children and subsequently putting pressure on these headmaster And headmistress ..we should avoid stigmatization on our schools

MoE should tap into the expertise of these retired heads to support the secondary level of education. They could be employed as inspectors of schools or advisers to serving heads, to help raise standards.
