Folks, let me now gist you about something that has been of interest for a very long time.

It is all about the manner in which Dr. Michael J.K. Bokor is mishandling and misusing the Ghanaweb platform and how the noble Dr. Kwame Okoampa Ahoofe has been Educationally and politically furnishing the Opinions column of Ghanaweb to prepare minds of readers especially young graduates and undergraduates.

I have noticed a huge difference that must be factored into public discourse on the calibre of graduates pursuing Ph.D. and undergraduates in the university.

Dr. Kwame Okoampa Ahoofe is a very fine noble gentleman, an entity that our Students as well as our politicians and political parties should strive for if they want to remain vibrant and viable long after Dr. Okoampa has left the scene.

Dr. Bokor is such a useless Satanic nonentity who is filled from his head to his toe with tribal and partisan hatred for the Akans especially Asantes and the NPP in general.

His submissions to this platform is all about hate for the Akan tribe and the NPP party, even though he, Dr. Bokor is not a real Ghanaian but rather an Togolese Ewe.

Mahama has no doubt proved to be a skilful political operator. He has succeeded in mending the cracks in the NDC by bringing back home all those who had grievances against past decisions of the party. But before you start hailing him, think about how Mahama has achieved that which Bokor is praising here.

He has done so by bribing perceived aggrieved party supporters with goodies and positions at the ministries and on boards of state agencies. While this may prove to be politically skilful, is it socially efficient? What is the social cost of putting square pecks in round holes? Why is the economy tanking?

Indeed, the power challenges are due in no small part to economic mismanagement at government agencies and the ineffective macroeconomic policies of the government's economic management team and the monetary policy committee.

In other words, the very means by which Mahama seeks to maintain unity in the NDC and win elections are also some of the fundamental causes of the poor performance of his government.

In contrast, most leaders who have successfully orchestrated economic success in their countries tend to not be well-liked because they're uncompromising. Lee Kuan Yew brought Singapore out of the union with Malaysia because he could not work with the latter's leaders. As leader of Singapore, he stamped his authority on the country with his uncompromising discipline and incorruptibility. In his own party and across the country, he created a system that rewarded people who worked hard to achieve his vision and fired those who did not or were corrupt. Much closer home, a similar story is unfolding in Rwanda under Paul Kagame.

Now, we can accuse such leaders as being dictatorial. But they have given their countries relatively cleaner and more effective government. Moreover, things like discipline, aversion for corruption and effective government should be compatible with democracy. It has eluded us because Mahama has chosen the easier and much-trodden path to winning elections in Africa.

Nana Addo may offer us that uncompromising, disciplined leadership we so lack!
