Again I ask can the GOC deny knowledge of Ophelia Okine,who brought a suit against us because somebody reneged on his agreement with her to cook for our contingent,I am surprised that you talking about BT Baba paying me.I contend that BT was notin London so how could he have known what happened there.I wrote this article based on my conscience going forward does this ring a bell, journalist with the Ghana News Agency was denied his per diem because he had reported about a Judoka raisig hell over unfair treatments for people like you the least said about you the better.....How can BT Baba pay you think I belong to those lunatic fringe whose stomachs hold sway over their conscience

I suspect that Ashong-Mettle, the writer, must be a very young person. Either that or he is a grossly ill-informed or misinformed person. This is so because he obviously does not know what he is talking about or what has been going on in the Ghana Olympic Committee or for that matter, in the Ministry of Sports or the National Sports (Council) Authority. For Ashong-Mettle to shamelessly compare the autonomy of the individual sports associations to that of the Hair-dressers, Dress-makers and Beauticians associations confirms that he is not an educated person and he has not been able to decipher the script governing the administration of the various echelons of sports in this country. If, by any chance, he is a journalist, he is an outstanding smear on the already damaged notoriety of journalists in this country. Again, either he has very very low morals for attempting to raise the status of assassins or he is just simply a pitiable accessory to the bigger criminals for whom he is working.
Beyond that, he obviously is not aware that the historical and pervading criminal shenanigans in all sectors of sports administration in this country, are mainly due to the overwhelming influence and instruction of corrupt politicians, sports journalists and administrators. It is not only the administration of sports that is suffering from this filthy burden, all sectors of the economy are slowly dying from this ailment that is foisted upon state institutions and I dare say that the current govt and its antecedent have brazenly inflicted the most damaging injuries on the administration of sports. As a result, good people do not go anywhere near the administration of sports. When or if they do, they are promptly undermined and booted out with disgrace.
I can assure Ashong-Mettle that the criminal wrongdoings of the contemporary officials that he seems to be so hysterical about, can only be described as the small tip of the iceberg in the wilful mismanagement of sports in this country. The people who are running the GOC, the NSA and the associations are merely the selected errand boys and yes-men/women of interested politicians. That is how BT Baba himself as well as the officials before and after him got to where they got to in the administration of sports in this country. As for the history of BT Baba the less said about him the better.
The very fact that Ashong-Mettle even comically assumes that BT Baba is an honest man – a competent man, betrays his stupidity and lack of knowledge ofv the GOC and sports administration in this country.
Worse of all, to as much as whisper the name of BT Baba alongside icons of global peace like Mahatma Ghandi and Alfred Nobel, is not only nauseating, obscene and vulgar to the prestige and hallowed names of such personalities and what they stood for but, it clearly also shows that Ashong-Mettle is just an impetuous small boy who has been criminally inspired by trifles to do his worst as a minion for others.

Then Prof Dodoo and Andrew Owusu spent it with 20 or so grossly underfunded national federation presidents (GOC members) sitting on the sidelines? Why don’t you ask Mr. Baba to share (proof) with you, myself and the public how much money he left at GOC. I am sorry to disappoint you but I honestly do not know much about GOC activities beyond the interface with athletics. Every now and then prof Dodoo tells me about GOC policy discussions/activities if relevant to related conversation about athletics. However, if it makes you feel better, then keep granting me GOC powers and insight I do not have.

It will be unfair for me to raise the issues covered by “Soomui” given my limited insight on GOC matters even though I think the writer of the article is wrong on at least one issue. Also, you [David and Sam] can’t say i am all for the current GOC president and yet attribute a comment about "criminal wrongdoings of the contemporary officials ....." to me. It does not make much sense even for a diversionary move. I don't have any personal grudges against Mr. Baba. He can confirm that throughout his tenure, he and i worked well together unless you consider my support of Prof Dodoo as personal. Yes, i supported Prof Dodoo for the GOC presidency; get over it. Not having any personal issues against Mr. Baba does not mean he was an effective GOC president --- my personal opinion. It also does not mean I don’t respect him as an individual and acknowledge his contributions to sports development in Ghana however limited.
The more light we can shine on our sports administrators, the better. If and when accusations are made, they should be backed up by some level of supporting evidence. The evidence need not be fool-proof but at least reasonable people can look at it and land in the same general direction. Without some level of evidence, we do the public a disservice. I also wonder about the objectivity of the article [writer] for lauding former officials for whom publicly available evidence indicates, at best, that they were associated with misdeeds and at worst, implicated in corruption.
A more objective approach would have left the onus on current officials to respond with either refuting evidence or at lest explain to the public the reason for current state of affairs as demonstrated (not just described) by writer. One cannot ask the public to go from A to Z without providing the factual pieces, not opinions, that link A to Z.
Anyway, I am not part of GOC thus I am limited in what I know about the current state of affairs beyond the interface with Ghana Athletics. If this article had been about athletics, I would have happily dived in and claimed ownership of my comments. I will not shy away from discussions about athletics because I have much deeper knowledge about the sport than about GOC’s 20 or so constituents (national federations).
