I have a few eye-popping explanations to guide you on what happens when it comes to writing for forums such as Ghanaweb.
Yes, I have been writing opinion pieces for many years now, presenting as such and not seeking to be "academic" thereby, clearly because I know the difference between academic writing and non-academic writing for such forums. If for nothing at all, my training as a journalist (thanks to the Ghana Institute of Journalism, from 1982 to 1984) and practice as a journalist at the Ghana News Agency in the 1980s) has made me know what it takes to write feature articles (opinion pieces) that can be read and understood by audiences not really fixated on bombastic academic nonsense of the sort prompting your drivel.
And take it from me that the difference between academic writing and non-academic writing is clear.
Writing opinion pieces for online media or any news medium is purely non-academic writing meant for transactional communication (You can find out what it means) while academic writing is rigid and meant for scholars belonging to a speech or discourse community with common interests in topics and writing style.
For your information, I don't set out to do academic writing by way of theses/dissertations, treatises, or any other form of rigid and quaint academic genre for the audience visiting Ghanaweb. That is why I restrict myself to everyday language use and style, let alone the topics on which I write.
Characters like you who pontificate "academic writing" style for the online media are lost.

Take it from me that everyone of us has his own field, where he is recognized. Writing for Ghanaweb isn't the in-thing as far as academic writing is concerned.
Again, by style, every writer seeks to engage the audience that he/she defines for the text and to reach out to them.
Those who visit Ghanaweb to read opinion pieces constitute a "motley audience" that a sensible writer will attempt connecting with by using language that they can easily grasp and move on without looking for any Oxford Advanced Learners' Dictionary or the Webster's version. Mine is a conversational approach that you don't have.
For some of you, it is a different approach, which is why you use archaic words and convoluted expressions that mean nothing when unpacked in context. To you, that style is "academic". Unfortunately, it is not suitable for online writing. Feature writing isn't the same as what you mistake academic writing for. You need to educate yourself before you pass judgement on others' writing style.

If you have read this article with open - mind, you would have realised that Dr Bokor is against wasteful spending of public funds for such excercise. He is suggesting for proper investigation and punishment for the Minister if she abused her position for authorising that project.

Today when someone speak or write constructive criticism about NPP, we insult the person. Why?
We insult Dr Arthur Kennedy for calling Nana Addo to unite the party or when he criticise the party, but we same people praise the Honourable Martin Amidu who is also fighting corruption within the NDC government.
