We have had Coup plotters whose actions might or could have even caused injuries to our own fellow Citizens and given refuge in other Naitons. At the time of their alleged crimes, these folks could have fit the description of 'Undesirables'.
The question here is whether these Yemeni detainees were even ever apprehended for any criminal behavior, or prosecuted and found guilty or innocent.
Much of what Dr. Borkor and others are drawing on to reject our humanitarian and diplomatic gestures regarding these detainees stem from lack of information, or ignorance in the exact situation the detainees find themselves in.
We should rather ask the relevant questions if we need to on their admission to the country rather speculate and whip up unfounded fears among the Public, and condemn the Government in absolute terms for taking that action. It is untenable for Dr. Borkor to make such an authoritative declaration about the detainees before receiving any answers to the questions he has posed here.
If one asked me if these detainees would have any reason to antagonize and harm Ghana, I would say it would our rejection of them rather than our welcoming of them to enable them resume their normal lives in Peace.
They are victims of gross injustice and paranoia, the recognition of which the USA which kidnapped them from their homelands with the collusion of their home Government has now released them from their illegal detention.
The reason why they could not go back to the homeland immediately is more because there is War going on there, now and also that the Yemeni Authorities that colluded with the USA to effect their capture fear vengeance from them, given that their pains are still fresh in their minds, at least. That is why a 'probation' of two years is included as a condition for their freedom to return home for good.
The USA could not find anywhere on her mainland that would take them, also for the same fear of attracting their revenge, which they most likely would not think of carrying out.
Ghana has not done anything to harm them to earn such their revenge. If anything at all, they are most likely grateful to us for opening up our doors to give them a second chance at freedom.
Our own dubious Officials who facilitated massive importation or smuggling of Guns into the Country to encourage armed robbery in Ghana are more deserving of our fear than these detainees. Our own Youths who just left to join ISIS would be more threatening to us, if they were coming back home than these Yemenis.
