Don't Allow Akufo-Addo to 'Fool' you for the Third Time
In partisan politics, the core objective of every flag-bearer is to win political political power, but not to consign the party into opposition. Leveling blames on the Electoral Commission (EC), the Supreme Court (SC), or other party stalwarts as a result of a Presidential Candidate's inability to win power for his party not once, but thrice on the trot (run- off included) does not call for any debate, but rather a total rejection of the Candidate in the party's primaries.
Unfortunately, it appears the NPP is not ready for power in 2016 due to the actions, inactions, and pronouncements of a section of its members. For instance, for almost one year now, such divisive statement like; "No Nana, No Vote" had not been condemned by Akufo-Addo. But, if indeed, all NPP members accept the fact that the New Patriotic Party is not Nana's Personal Property, then it behoves on every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the party to put a stop to such hero-worshipping in order to put the party on track.
Change is not a respecter of persons, for it is needed when all the props and practices of the past no longer works. It is for this reason that Nana Addo and all NPP members are calling for a change of government in Ghana in 2016. Change is so important in politics that in the year 1996, the NPP delegates did not waste time to change Prof. Albert Adu Boahen as the party's flag-bearer for Election 1996. This was even at the time that the party had written a "Stolen Verdict" to show the whole world that the 1992 elections were rigged. Similarly, the need for change prompted Nana Akufo-Addo to contest J.A. Kufuor for the NPP flag-bearership slot in 1998, when the former blamed Kufuor for not winning power for the NPP in Election 1996. In his determination to oust Kufuor from the flag-bearership position, Nana Addo said; "Any Candidate who is elected the Presidential Candidate of the NPP had already secured 30% of the total valid votes. Failure to garner the remaining 20% plus 1 vote is not anybody's fault, but the Candidate's". Although, the delegates rejected Nana Addo, his quest for change made him contest and beat Aliu Mahama in the 2007 NPP primaries at Legon, when Nana Addo himself knew that Aliu Mahama was the most experienced Candidate at the time, by virtue of him being a Vice President of Ghana for 8 years.
In fact, the concept of change is not peculiar to only individuals. Its impact is also felt among companies, political parties, and governments. It is in the light of this that the NPP saw the need for structural reforms in the party in 2010. Under the auspices of 3 R's - Reflect, Rebuild, and Recapture, the NPP's Electoral College was expanded from 2,300 to 140,000 delegates. Besides, the entire National Executives led by Mac Manu were changed. Surprisingly, Nana Addo who took the NPP from government in 2008 to opposition in 2012 was maintained, though he found it wise to replace his Campaign Manager, Dr. Arthur Kennedy with Boakye Agyarko. Strangely, in spite of the above changes, Nana Addo moved the NPP from Kufuor's six (6) regions to a struggling two (2); reduced Kufuor's popular votes of 52.45% to 49.13% and later to 47.74%, with a vote deficit of 323,663.
Following the consistent NPP's electoral defeats, changes have continued unabated in all the party's internal elections - Polling Station and National levels. Sadly, the man whose picture/photograph has always appeared on the ballot paper, and whose actions have caused us two painful defeats does not want to change himself. Neither do the people who blindly follow him see the imminent political risk Nana Addo's poses to the NPP in Election 2016. For me, if Nana Addo seriously loves the NPP as he always claims, the best that he could do for the party at this crucial time is to call it quits in the party's upcoming Congress in order to pave way for Alan-Bawumia partnership in 2016.
Though, Ghana has come to a standstill due to Mahama's incompetence and corruption, the Ghanaian electorate, especially the floating voter has made it clear on three electoral occasions that, they do not want Nana Akufo-Addo as their president. To them, they would prefer to live in abject poverty to living 'better lifestyles' under Akufo-Addo's presidency. However, the over 5.2m NPP members and sympathisers in Ghana (per the 2012 election) cannot make Nana Addo, the president, meaning that, there is a need for extra votes outside the NPP's core membership to be added unto the party's 5.2m votes to cross the 50% plus one mark.
Akufo-Addo is now calling on the NPP delegates to give him the last chance. Does it therefore make any political sense to present Nana Addo for the third consecutive time in 2016, if I may ask? How does anyone think that Nana Addo, now the oldest opposition leader in Africa, could overturn the 323,663 votes deficit against an incumbent youthful president, who had already beaten Nana Addo using only just three (3) months of campaigning? For me, it is easier to bring the dead back to life than for Nana Addo to beat John Mahama in any presidential election.
Admittedly, Nana Addo could be a potential good president looking at his political background. Unfortunately, he has not gotten what it takes to win presidential elections. One even expected him to put up strategies to win the next elections, but all that he has managed to do is to relax in London for six (6) months after consuming our time at the Supreme Court. No postmortem has been done on the party's two defeats. He surrounds himself with characters like Hon. Ken Ohene Agyepong and Hon. Atta Akyea who continue to make provocative and tribal statements. Nana Addo defends his old age as if Ghanaians would take him serious. He supports violence against the party leadership. Currently, 150 party vehicles cannot be accounted for, not forgetting the 2012 Campaign funds, yet all that we hear is that; "the grassroots are rooting for Nana Addo because he has been loyal to the NPP; Nana would get sympathy votes because he accepted the SC verdict; Mills won on his third attempt so it can happen to Nana". How do these assumptions translate into votes, fellow Kukrudites?
As NPP members, we cannot complain of thirst when we are in the midst of abundant water. The NPP delegates must understand that the party needs political power and not flag-bearer who has become a serial loser. Is Akufo-Addo the only best presidential material in the NPP? The NPP delegates must make sure they select a Candidate who can win the hearts and minds of floating voters. And as a believer of floating votes, this is what Nana Addo said in 1998 at the NPP Congress in Sunyani; "The NPP must elect a leader who has appeal outside the party and could reach out to the larger electorate and that if it fails to do this, power could once again elude it" - DAILY GRAPHIC, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8,1998. Page 11.
The question then is; who among the NPP flag-bearer aspirants stands a better chance to win the needed political power for the NPP and Ghanaians in 2016? From the many capable men and women in the NPP, it is obvious Alan Kyerematen could easily attract these floating votes for the party. This is because, Alan has the charisma, physique, competence, and experience to beat Mahama hands down. It is therefore imperative for the NPP to be dynamic and transformational to move away from the selection of just a mere flag-bearer to the selection of a winnable candidate. This calls for change in flag-bearership since Nana Addo himself believes in change.
In sharing his views on change a few years back, this is what Nana Addo said at the Sunyani NPP Congress; "There has been no instance in the history of democratic politics where a leader who fails to win power at first attempt succeeds when presented the second time in succession". Given the above quote, and coupled with the unique opportunities given to Nana Addo without any success since 2008, I personally appeal to every single NPP delegate to vote for Alan Kyerematen to lead the NPP into victory in 2016. Kindly, join GAKE in order to complete the last change.
God bless Ghana! God bless the NPP!! God bless Kufuor!!!

Katakyie please stop wasting your time on a dead horse because unlike Alan or Bawuamia, Nana Addo is not a leader, he is autocratic, incompetent, failure, corrupt and above all dishonest for practising without a law certificate.

Never Trust Akufo-Addo; He Would Deceive you in 2016
The late Prof. Albert Adu Boahen led the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 1992 general elections, but lost to the NDC's Flt. Lt. J.J. Rawlings. In spite of the fact that the NPP boycotted the Parliamentary Elections, and documented the 1992 Polls as a "Stolen Verdict", Prof. Adu Boahen was refused a second chance as the NPP's flag-bearer in 1996. This was even against the backdrop that changes had occurred in the electoral system. Mr. J.A. Kufuor, who succeeded Prof. Adu Boahen as the NPP's flag-bearer also lost to President Rawlings at the 1996 Polls.
However, Nana Akufo-Addo capitalized on Kufuor's defeat and equally demanded a change of flag-bearership. To him, it was morally wrong for the NPP delegates to retain Kufuor because, Prof. Adu Boahen was never given a second chance. Below are some of the statements Nana Addo made at the NPP Congress at Sunyani in 1998 that have been captured in the electronic and print media:
• "I am aware that there are some of you who are nervous about the prospects of change in our leadership. We changed leader in 1996 and again this year, some of us are canvassing for another change for 2000. I have been through these matters with you at your homes. Change in 1996 improved our performance - the vote of our candidate more than doubled from 1.2 million in 1992 to 2.8 million in 1996; our percentage of vote went from 30% in 1992 to 40% in 1996; the number of constituencies in which we had majorities increased from 43 in 1992 to 62 in 1996. So on all fronts, we improved our performance. It is not true then that change hurts. On the contrary it improves our standing."
Nana Addo continues;
• "I call on members of the party to embrace change in leadership of the party. Such changes are far from harming the fortunes of the party".
• "Change improves the chances of political parties as a new face eventually means new ideas, new methods and new strategies".
He further asserts;
• "Any candidate elected as the NPP's flag-bearer has already secured 30% of the total valid votes. Failure to garner the remaining 20% plus 1 means the candidate has failed, and therefore must be changed."
On his view on floating voters, Nana Addo said;
• "The NPP must elect a leader who has appeal outside the party and could reach out to the larger electorate and that if it fails to do this, power could once again elude it" - DAILY GRAPHIC, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8,1998. Page 11.
• "Whereas political parties have been known to have succeeded in winning power through changes of their leaders, there has been no instance in the history of democratic politics where a leader failed to win power at the first attempt, succeeds when presented the second time in succession"
Fellow delegates, we are in 2014 preparing for another NPP Congress and general elections. The same Nana Addo, who had opposed Kufuor's second attempt at the flag-bearership in 1998, led the NPP in Election 2008. This was after Alan Kyerematen had stepped down for him in 2007. In his Acceptance Speech, Nana Addo had this to say; "I have to begin by thanking all my colleagues in this epic contest. I am humbled that among this formidable array of political and intellectual talent that has been before you, you have decided to confer the mandate on my modest person. I am grateful to you and want to let you know I will do anything within my power not to let you down, so that the decision you have made here will bare fruits for us next year. For my younger brother, Alan, you have given me a good run for my money. Let me assure you that the NPP leadership has always been in succession. I will hand over the button to you in 2016 after my presidency".
Folks, the NPP was in power during the 2008 elections, and in spite of the incumbency advantage, and solid economic record, Nana Addo lost to a 'weaker' candidate like Prof. Mills. In addition, he reduced the NPP's winnable regions from six (6) to two (2), with a percentage vote of 49.13%. Yet, this painful electoral defeat did not even push the party's delegates to refuse Nana Addo a second chance in 2010 as he had earlier on advocated. In his Acceptance Speech, Nana Addo remarked; "I shall deliver the Presidency unto this great political party of ours and I promise you all, this time I shall not disappoint". The 2012 elections came to pass and as usual, Nana Addo failed to fulfill his promise of taking the NPP into the Flagstaff House. His percentage votes decreased from 49.13% to 47.74% with a struggling two (2) regions.
Fellow Kukrudites, we are in 2014 preparing for another flag-bearership contest and the twice-defeated presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo, instead of apologizing to the fraternity for his failure, and bowing out of politics had this to say at his campaign launch; "Let's think about the future of our party, let’s think victory 2016. The NPP cannot afford to lose the 2016 elections. Give me one more chance".
Now, let's do away with emotions and question Akufo-Addo's honesty. Is the man trustworthy at all? Is he capable of winning presidential elections? Does he have the capacity to attract floating votes? What is he going to do differently to convince the Ghanaian electorate to vote for him in 2016? Is it due to the so-called massive endorsements by the top hierarchy of the party? Are those endorsing Nana Addo new Ghanaian voters? How do we win general elections with the same crowd, same message, same running-mate, and same candidate? How do you win elections without giving any recognition to the floating voter? If the floating voter is non-existent, what will be the basis for Akufo-Addo's campaign? Is he going to sell his message to ghosts or trees since the rest of the voters belong to either the NDC, CPP, PNC, or PPP? Assuming he succeeds in even convincing a member of the NDC to vote for the NPP, how would Akufo-Addo describe such a vote?
From the above, it is obvious Nana Addo has woefully failed the NPP and thus, must not be given a third time chance. The signs are clear on the walls that he would lose to president Mahama in 2016. Let's avoid this imminent defeat by presenting Alan Kyerenaten in 2016. Alan's attributes - vision, achievements, humility, posture, physique, charisma etc far outweigh those of John Mahama, and I believe that will be the weapon to defeat Mahama.
God bless Ghana! God bless the NPP!! God bless Kufuor!!!

Stop Worshipping Akufo-Addo as "Opposition President"
For quite a long time, it seems to me that most supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have no clue about the real issue at stake. This is because, most of them have been blinded by sycophancy and bootlicking to the extent that they see Nana Akufo-Addo as the epitome of the NPP. Most of them refuse to learn new political ideas and they refuse to be guided by past bitter electoral experiences. If you call for a change of Nana Addo as the next NPP flag-bearer, they want to burry you alive. Unfortunately, they are unable to give you any tangible reasons as to why Nana Addo should be given a third time chance in spite of his abysmal electoral performances since 2008. Is there any legacy Akufo-Addo left behind as an MP for 12 years, and Cabinet Minister for 7 years to suggest that he is the 'most intelligent person' to lead the NPP?
All that these people think is that, John Mahama has under-performed as president so definitely, Election 2016 is a foregone victory for the NPP. They have even forgotten that President Mahama is half-way through his 4-year term of office, and that, the man can spend billions of Ghana cedis in the Election year. They have not studied the voter psychology in Ghana to ascertain that, Ghanaians don't vote based on the economic performance of an incumbent government. Most NPP members have not taken time to find out why, in spite of the remarkable achievements of the erstwhile NPP government, Ghanaians still voted against the NPP under Nana Addo in 2008.
They have not taken time to find out why in spite of the Woyomism, dubious judgement debts payments, provocative actions of 'babies with sharp teeth', failed promises, for example, reducing fuel prices drastically, one time premium for NHIS, Mahama beat Akufo-Addo by 323,663 valid votes in Election 2012 using only three months of campaigning. They have not taken time to find out why Akufo-Addo is the only Presidential Candidate in the NPP to have lost to two different opposing candidates (Mills & Mahama) within a spate of five (5) years; they have not observed why Akufo-Akufo has not been able to win massively in his own home region - Eastern, and Greater Accra, where he was born and has lived all his years; They have not taken time to find out why Akufo-Addo cannot win presidential elections in spite of all the changes that occurred in the NPP leadership as well as the Campaign Team. Talk to them, and all that they say is that, Nana has suffered for the party; Nana was cheated in 2012; Mills won on his third attempt; Ghanaians change governments every 8 years etc. How do we go into crucial elections with such assumptions? Probably, if the immediate past NPP leadership had set up an independent body to find out the causes of Akufo-Addo's defeats in both 2008 and 2012, it could have changed their mindset.
Fellow Kukrudites, the issue before the NPP is not about insults on some of us who have dissenting views on Akufo-Addo's candidature. It is also not about the crowd - MPs, Chairmen etc that troop to Nana Addo's residence and worship him as the "Opposition President". The crowd, as we all know, is made up of NPP members, and therefore the value remains the same. The NPP has about 5.2m supporters using the 2012 elections as a guide. Unfortunately, this huge number is not enough to give us a president of our choice, and this has been proven by the three times rejection of Akufo-Addo - 2008 first round, 2008 second round, and 2012 one touch at the polls. In fact, if even Akufo-Addo's popular votes have been increasing from say: 49.13% to 49. 91%, then one could say that there is hope in 2016, and that some of us wouldn't be troubled by their stance.
But, how could these same people explain to us that the most popular, tried and tested, marketed, experienced, aged, and incorruptible politician of our time, for strange reasons, has had his votes depreciating from 49.13% in 2008, to 47.74% in 2012? The NPP's six (6) winnable regions - Ashanti, Central, Brong-Ahafo, Eastern, Western, and Greater Accra have reduced to one and a half (Ashanti and half Eastern). It is thus obvious that having the same crowd, same message, same running-mate, and of course same Akufo-Addo will never ever produce different results, come 2016.
I hope this is not what the NPP or Ghanaians want. The NPP needs extra votes beyond its core membership. It is here that the delegates need to find out which of the seven (7) contestants stands a better chance to give the party the needed victory in 2016.
• The delegates therefore need to choose a candidate who can attract votes from the floating voters. In this sense, the delegates should fish out what the floating voters usually look out for. These include humility, vision, charisma, character, competence, likeability, calmness, posture etc. • They should choose a candidate who can garner some votes from the NDC and other opposing parties. • They should choose a candidate who can win at least, one additional region for the NPP. • They should choose a candidate who can minimize the number of rejected ballot papers in the NPP strongholds. • They should choose a candidate who will relate well with the Electoral Commission (EC), but not be at loggerheads with it, because the EC is the election referee. • A candidate, who is without so many controversies so that the party can focus and sell its campaign message. • A candidate, whose utterances and those surrounding him would bring unity in the party and the country. • A candidate, who can resource the party's Polling Agents well so that they can protect the ballot papers. • A candidate, who has a clear vision for the NPP and Ghana within the next decade. • A candidate, who acts as a bridge between the young and the old, that is, neither a young-man nor old man. • A candidate, who has visible achievements in both private and and public life. • The country now needs an innovator, business developer, human resource developer, international diplomat, lawyer cum economist, who can create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.
It is here that Hon. Alan Kyerematen, the former US Ambassador, Trade, Industry, and PSI, comes in. He is the best candidate to win power for the NPP. Let's shelve our emotions and give him the chance. I, Katakyie, have the strongest conviction that, Alan will not disappoint you.
God bless Ghana! God bless the NPP!! God bless Kufuor!!!

A man went to a doctor to have his penis enlarged. Well, this particular procedure involved splicing a baby elephant's trunk onto the man's penis.
Overjoyed, the man went out with his best girl to a very fancy restaurant. After cocktails, the man's penis crept out of his pants, felt around the table, grabbed a hard roll and quickly disappeared under the tablecloth. The girl was startled and exclaimed, "What was that?".
Suddenly the penis came back, took another hard roll and just as quickly disappeared. The girl was silent for a moment, then finally said, "I don't believe I saw what I think I just saw... can you do that again?"
With a bit of an uncomfortable smile the man replied, "Honey, I'd like to, but I don't think my ass can take another hard roll!"
