Mr. Kobena A Eyiah,
You are carrying Bawumia's water without proper analysis and reflection!
See our paper at www.GhanaHero.com/Visions,
>HOT: Dr. Bawumia’s Case for A New Voters' Register is Bloated With More Gas Than Evidence-Archive-PDF.
Get a copy, read, then come again!
YOUR:
"...Ghana had a total population of 25,758,108 in 2010. Of this 52.93% or 13,632,299 are aged 18 and above. So, even if Ghana should achieve 100% registration of eligible voters (a logistical and technical impossibility), there should only be 13,632,299 names on the Electoral Commission’s register. It has 14.8 million on its books and Mrs Charlotte Osei, says “multiple registration is only in the hundreds!”..."
WE SAY:
This is your entire thesis in this paper, your Part I, we gather!
Massah, we are also "...wondering about the sort of...logistical and technical impossibility..." you yourself are are assuming and ignoring all in one stroke of your electronic pen.
You are assuming a perfect 2010 population count; that everyone was counted; that the uncounted were perfectly accounted for through normal census population sampling and adjustments, etc.
You neglect that this is Ghana, not the UK or the US.
You are assuming that if anyone "aged 18 and above" was uncounted in the census for any reason, they never bothered to register to vote.
Haba!
Again, see our critique of Bawumia, then come again!
Please pay attention to how we deal with the Dr. Afari Djan situation. In the main, if we may extend what we've said previously on that count, you cannot blame Dr. Afari Djan for Ghana census issues this late in the run-up to the elections.
Bawumia and the NPP, and everyone, had more 7 years to get serious - but looks like they neglected to do or say the right.
Now, Dr. Afari Djan has retired in peace, and you are running around with a bucket of Bawumia water on your head talking about prosecuting.
That, we submit, is not constructive at all!
Peace!

Your self adoration is sheer self delusion. Are you trying to tell us you are the only smart guy Ghana has ever produced or what? By saying that Ghana is not UK, are you not implying that those working at the Ghana statistical service are so daft and incapable of making projections from raw data? You see your double standards. Can you tell us where you get your statistical data to make the bogus analysis you've been feeding your gullible readers on this forum and elsewhere? Stop projecting yourself as a genius on this platform. Your style of writing alone makes me wonna puke. The Akans have a saying in Twi which literally translates as ; " the bathroom was long wet before the down pour of rain". Give us a break!

We do not do these things because we hate Bawumia, the NPP, or the NDC, as the case may be.
We just do not take kindly to people who think everyone is an idiot. You know, people who come out with funky statements on public policy that only serve their narrow, peculiar interests. It is that simple with us!
You, on the other hand, never have facts or data!
If what we've produced bothers you, you ought to be able to do better than these crass, verbal insults.
Ghanaweb is replete with such!
Simply, bring out your own facts and data to support what you say.
Better yet, take a break and pen an article on the subject, and allow everyone to read so they can be the judge.
Imagine!
That childish and pre-Columbian proverb, even "pre-Golden Ghana", as some of you will even admit to your anguish and shame!
Is that supposed to inspire anyone? What redeeming value does it have today, in the 21st century? Is that what you will call progress that you yourself can marry to any quantity of "statistical data".
Shows you and your kind are mired in tribalist antiquity not to recognize that our statement about the census was a whole lot more about the population, infrastructure and resources, not the technicians.
Tell everyone: What percentage of those "aged 18 and over" discussed in
"...sensible writeup...food for thought..." could actually read and respond to a census questionnaire independent of chaperon the last time there was a census in Ghana?
Get a life!
Learn something and quit confusing yourself!
(And notice, if you must insult, the word is "quit", not "quite")!
Nonsense, or "RUBBISH", as DadeKramaa will put it to you!

Lungu,
Where else would anyone obtain statistical data other then the population census for any kind of planning for the country? If according to your thesis we pay huge sums of money for technocrats to give us garbage, aren't you proving my thesis about Dr Afari-Gyan and his EC correct.
If the EC's figures according to your thinking are right, then Ghana's population must be getting to 40 million? If we have the likes of you as "leading lights" in Ghana, is it any wonder our country is in such a mess, now importing second terrorists?

NPP and Akuffo Addo accepted the 2012 voter register as valid and used it to go to court claiming they won the election based on this credible register, sighting the UGLY PINK SHEETS. But when they lost the verdict, they found another way to say that the voter register was bloated and not credible. NPP has claimed victory of all elections since Ghana's democratic dispensation. It was this same Afari Gyan who declared NPP victorious in 2002 and 2004. Then he was a saint, but when the victory goes the other way, he is a devil. Shame unto NPP and the author of this article.

All the bye-elections conducted by the EC using the voters register in the affected areas where the Mps lost their live or had to be a tribal chief, none of the parties complained about the dishonesty in the system, because all of them are very aware of the unclean register we are having and in one way or the other each party is benefitting from the it. This implies the acceptance of the gross and clealy dishonest disadvantages benefit all the political parties. In effect the write up is not helping anyone but making the writer looking at issues biasly. Dr Afari-Gyan appeared before the count and it was established that in such a system prevailing in Ghana he could not have done enough to prevent double registration and mind you it is the political parties which encourage their political thugs to undertake such registrations. TThe political parties are to be blamed for such a social vice in the registration of voters in Ghana

I do think the author need to go back to class one to get lessons on how not to be a goat to be herded by a sheep. If the Busia-Danquah-dumbo clan are managers and not politicians then it is either wrong for them to get involved in politics then or now because Dr. K.A. Busia got his chance at "managing" Ghana and where did he lead us? If the one half of the Busia-Danquah-dumbo ideology got the chance at governing and screwed up badly what then is the NPP running on? It was easy for Dr. K. A. Busia to live in their ideological theory land but he found out that in practice it flunks. So the NPP under Kufour did what comes naturally and the 2001 to 2008 NPP joined in the looting. So dont talk about Busia-Danquah-dumbo ideology unless there's substance yet to be uncovered.
