OKATAKYIE SARPONG, this was exactly the point I was discussing with a friend I visited over the weekend in North London. Unfortunately, the two Guantanamo detainees are now stuck with Ghana for the foreseeable future! The reality is that Ghana government, be it this NDC or NPP, does not have the political and diplomatic strength to force the U.S. to either take them back or resettle them elsewhere without Washington/Pentagon's approval. Given the fact that Yemen is unstable and dotted with al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorist camps, the U.S. will not authorise their repatriation by Ghana to their homeland in two years.

I'm sure President Mahama's decision to accept the resettlement of the two Guantanamo detainees might have come with some restrictions/conditions, whether it was a humanitarian gesture or 'cash-for-jihadists' deal. It must be recognised that the U.S. didn't consider sending Yemenis at Guantanamo back to their homeland because they were considered security risks and suspected of re-joining al-Qaeda and ISIS operatives in Yemen. Can you see a stable government, peace and stability returning to Yemen any time soon?

So basically, there is every reason to believe that the two Guantanamo detainees will be accommodated in Ghana for a very long time. President Mahama's mind-boggling decision to accept the Guantanamo detainees for resettlement in Ghana is like asking for a 'cancer transplant'.

Given the fact that two Guantanamo detainees have the freedom to visit the mosques, Islamic schools and move freely among Ghanaians, they could actively recruit impressionable individuals and misguided jihadi sympathisers in Ghana to become terrorists.

These Guantanamo detainees are radicalised jihadists. Clearly, they harbour extremist views in their mindset. They cannot be trusted. Officially, they are not here to be 're-integrated' into our Ghanaian society. They have no loyalty to Ghana. There is the risk of radicalisation and recruitment through socialisation.

It has been reported that one Ghanaian Muslim has already joined ISIS. We have no idea how many Ghanaians have joined ISIS, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram and the al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb? We don't know. Our national security agencies don't know. The threat to our safety and security cannot be underestimated. President Mahama's reckless decision cannot be played down.

Which leaves Al Qaeda only one alternative: we must release them from Ghana and integrate them into the Al Qaeda networks in Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Nigeria. Even without the skills of such experienced terrorists who have been trained by Osama bin Laden and his subordinates, these Al Qaeda network is effective (Ouagadougou and Bamako hotel bombings; Boko Haram attacks).

If they get an infusion of better skills and better experience, what can they do?

This is the question Ghanaian security operatives were too unintelligent to advise the President about. They can expect Al Qaeda. But what can they do about it?

Nothing.
Not even the Americans or the French can do anything when Al Qaeda decides to attack. Mahama has destroyed Ghana in advance.

Seems to me like you don't know what you are saying. You cannot abrogate an agreement without the consent of the other party.

THE UNITED NATIONS CHARTER EMPHASIZES NONINTERFERENCE IN THE INTERNAL AFFAIRS OF MEMBER STATES AND YET THE UNITED STATES HAS CONSISTENTLY BEEN VIOLATING THE CHARTER IN ITS STUPID FERVOUR OF REGIME CHANGE IN VARIOUS COUNTRIES. THESE INCLUDE:
