Of course if you are a young man in your teens and 20s, that will be no problem. But in your 50s and after years of toil in construction sites and difficult jobs, you can be in real trouble.

Viagra may not help and other medicines have side effects.

Good article, however, I think it falls a little bit short about the causes of impotence in men living abroad. I am specifically talking about DIET. Many Ghanaians abroad have traded in their traditional diet for the cheaper "too much sugar', too much salt", "too much fat and carbohydrates" diet abroad. They also eat too much hormone and antibiotic ridden meats, leading to various meatabolic disorders and the resulting erectal dysfunction. Lastly, these guys abroad DO NOT do their regular medical check-ups ( even if covered by insurance, until they are seriously ill and dying. Think about all that too.

This topic had been continuous discussions for years in serious and funny ways, but it is a fact that we need to find a lasting solution to it. My suggestion is those of us leaving outside Ghana and parts of Africa should think equally about our welfare and happiness at all time and most importantly after retirement. Most work so hard to keep friends and family more happy than themselves in abroad with the idea that we will enjoy after retirement when we go back to Ghana or leave where we are. God forbid though how come you want to enjoy life only after your retirement? there are many Ghanaians who have died without even seeing their completed house in Ghana and the 4x4 cars in the garage. Some have been able to retire and went back home but cannot live happily there because the system is different and new to them because they don't visit home frequently. You see them outside very happy individual but are not happy home because they can't perform in bed at home and their wives are not happy and so do they. Reduce overtime and have more rest and time at home with your spouse, visit home frequently to acquaint yourself the changes and bad governance with greedy and ungodly politicians. I thank God that He has made it possible for me to visit Ghana 15 times out of my almost 20 years in abroad because I will definitely going back to Ghana finally if it is the will of God.

Eventually when they get their papers and fall sick, doctors prescribe medication that is unsuitable. However, the doctors base their decision on the age that is identified on their papers. First of all I appreciate his courage to comment openely what is concidered a tabu. But as a Medical Docter and and a Specialist I have noticed many wrong interpretation of the cause of Impotency in Men and Infertility in Women.
1. A phusicaly exhausted Individual definately can experoence Impotency without any other reason or disease.
2. One has to be very very carful to use the so called traditional medicine prescribed by Shaman's Because many traditional herbs are in fact prooved to cause from Mild to Severe Organ diseases and even decreasing the life expectancy of the consumer.
3. There is NO such thing as "overdependence" in Sex enchancing drugs since the drugs DO NOT have any chemical compound that can cause dependency. The only effect of these drugs is to direct or Shunt The blood circulating in The Arteries to The Pelvoc region and Penis thereby causing erection of The Penis. They only must never be used by Individuals with Hypotension or Low Blood Pressure or difficult heart disease like Heart Insufficiency unless in The last case the Individual is already have a Pacemaker implant.
4. Excess or daily consumption of Alcoholic drinks, Cocain, Amfetamine, Tobacco definately causes Impotency. But reaserch conducted from 1960 (The American Hipi movment years) to the present clearly and unequovocaly disproof that Marihuana causes impotency, in fact on the contrary the casual use of Marihuana enchances potency and hard erection of The Penis. Firthermore, The use of Marihuana unlike Hashis DO NOT even cause Lung diseases needless to mention Lung Cancer.
Marihuana is a harmless weed. One can read about it not only in Medical Pharmacology books meant for Medical Students but the hundreds of Articles published for over Four decades.
5. The Author don't specifically mention which Gastrointestinal drugs cause Impotency. If by that he means sytostatic drugs used for Cancer disease then that is a different story but IF he generalizes Medicines used like for "Heart burn"; Gastric Ulcer and The like then that is a misnomer because these drugs Never cause impotency.
Similarly drugs used for seasonal allergic disorders Never cause impotency.
6. What concernes Young Women Infertility, first The young women must be examined if her Fallopian tubes are intact and open thereby monthely cathing Eggs from The Ovaries and delivering to The Fallopian tube.
In Today's Ghana unfortunately because of The corrupt Politicians that allow Western countries to Dump PC and Laptop junks yearly over 250 Million Tons of these Junks plus hazardous Chemical fluids are prooved to cause Brain and other Cancers in Children and different kinds of Cancers in all other age groups PLUS Permanent infertility in women.
As an African from Ethiopia I Grief for Ghana daily. How all The hard Work of Kwame Nkrumah and in The begining the Young and ambitious man like Jerry Rowllings turned into a dust bin. People of course have short memory about how These men sacrificed for The Country they Love and in fact Jerry Rowlings has escaped many assasination attempts by Western countries. But evidentely after Ghana started becoming Corrupt aping The rotting system of Nigeria which is one of The Worlds Top Corrupt Country, Jerry Rowlings after President Kufuor who turned Ghana into a Corrupt Country just like Nigeria, The once great Champion and Hero who wanted to see change and jeniune development of Ghana President Jerry Rowllings also changed & I Personally who follow every African Countries socio political progress or regress find it very hard to recognize President Jerry Rowllings of Yester Years and today.
The corruption level and PLEASING The Empire: The U.S.A is becoming even worse as I write these lines.
WHAT HAS GHANA HAS TO DO WITH GUANTANAMO PROSONERS??? WHEN THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN REFUSED TO TAKE THEM AMERICA IS TRANSPORTING THEM NOW TO GHANA. This definately is going to have a very dangerous consequences for Ghana in the future

I was in a hurry when I wrote my point of view earlier. My Sincier appology for the typing errors in the begining of my comment written by Mr. Stephan Atta Owusu.
Allow me also to make some corrections concerning President Jerry Rowllings.
As I wrote many a times people have short memory about that Heroic Son of Ghana who was ready to sacrifice his own life to abolish corruption and see his beloved Country Ghana develope and prosper. But my take is that:
1. It was too early to rush and allow the majority illiterate Ghanian's to decide What kind of system they want when it is obvious that propaganda machines like VOA and BBC work hard by any means to materialize their decades old World Domination policy and in particular the Empire U.S.A.
2. Vote for politicians and so called free press is a sine quo non of civilization or so called Western Democracy. At this point I want the readers to pay attention to the speech of in particular "An African American President Barack Hussein Obama" when specially during his Presidential campaign but also later many times again and again read from A ready speech probably written for him reading from a TelePrompTer saying: quote - unquote " ...Our Founding Fathers". But ladies and gentlemen WHO are these so called ""founding father's of America??? " : To mention a couple of them: Jefferson Davis and George Washington Right?: Absolutely!!!
But Jefersson Davis and George Washington were among others Slave owners that's Africans in Captivity as Slaves who transformed Aphartide America and Imperialist Britain into Industrialization. I call that a stupid parrot.
Going back to the Young, determined, Enthusiastic, Energetic Jerry Rowllings who wanted to abolish not only Corruption but also risked his own life to see his beloved Country Ghana was forced to change because the majority selfish and illiterate Ghanians who wanted to ape the corrupt and rotting Nigerian society turned his stomach and forced him to change course after the Corrupt President Kufuor and adapt to the circumstances.
He trusted his people but miscalculated that the Ghanian society like the majority Sub- Saharan African countries must first educate their people and prepare a highly qualified Cadres that can not be easily outmaneuvered and outlawed in their own backyard by a sophisticated and highly educated American and European cadres.
I suggest you read and watch what President Jimmy Carter wrote and said in Huff Post Interview: quote - unqote: ".... There Is No Democracy Anymore in the U.S.A"
