  Dr Okoampa-Ahoofe, this is a perfectly reasonable article. Alexanda Kotey's only Ghanaian connection is his father's Ghanaian background and the given name, Kotey.

  Alexanda Kotey's mother being a Greek-Cypriot, his father being a Ghanaian, born, grew up and radicalised in London surely cannot be considered Ghanaian. To suggest he's a Ghanaian is an attempt by some sections of the western media to paint Ghana as source of Islamic extremism. He's a British citizen and wholly Britain's homegrown jihadist problem.

  Revert to 1979 and remember the genesis of this Islamic terrorism or its regeneration since the world witness its ugly head in India leading to the creation of the state of Pakistan and later in Algeria were the French use them as hounds to hound down Algerian freedom fighter.
  It is on record that in 1979 the then President of Ghana Hilla Liman boycotted the Olympic games in the then Soviet Union because of alleged occupation of Afghanistan.
  Thus in 1979 the parliament in Ghana supported the establishment of the terrorist camps in the Bakar Valley in Pakistan with like of Osaman Bin Laden in charge. Unlike 2001 after NATO forceful occupation of Afghanistan in 1979 there was a legitimate government in Afghanistan with her representatives at all UN bodies. Just as many nations have U.S. forces stationed in their territories, thus Afghanistan under the same UN Conventions that the U.S. used to have her military bases in many countries around the world, and today including Ghana all members of the U.N. have that right.
  The question we shall ask is is this young Kotey different from his father? Did our Foreign Minister in 2011 not supported NATO bombing of Libya, which means that we supported the Arab spring with any snakes that it hatched. Ghana's hands has been in this podding of Islamic terrorism, we help to create and promote it, let us not reject one of its chickens that have come home to roost, he is a creation of our insanity.

  Under our constitution Alexander Kotey qualifies as a Ghanaian by virtue of the fact that one of his parents come from Ghana.In fact if he were a talented footballer and not a terrorist,Ghanaian will be claiming him to represent Ghana even though he was born In England and there fore English.
  
  By the way if you could make the argument that he is Cypriot as well how can you say he is not a Ghanaian too.Is it not not the same basis.Okoampa you should know better than this or is it a case of the sterile pedant.

  You make a very valid point regarding the Ghanaian constitution, sir. If Kotey is half Cypriot and half Ghanaian, I guess he can claim both sides. It's just that simple.
