Our mindset is the basic stumbling block and there are plenty of evidence to support that. While the White man has an open mindset, ours is closed and we have refused to open it for new ideas.
We know the right thing but have refused to apply it. Why can't we allow the rule of law to prevail and exact its toll on those who will break it? We have allowed corruption to eat deep into our moral fabric, destroying us but we seems okay with it.
Look, the former speaker of the New state assembly, Sheldom Shilvers had been charged with corruption for accepting bribes. As we speak, he is out as the speaker but look at Barton Oduro, this man is knee deep inside Woyome's pocket and he dares anyone to challenge or put him before any court of law. Do you see the difference between us and them?
Why do you think our constitution should give the president a tax exemption status? Obama, David Cameron, Merkel etc all pay taxes but a leader of a third world country has tax exemption status. Do you see another lapse here and the same president has the gut to tell Ghanaians that we do not pay taxes. The funny thing is that the president does not feel ashamed to go out and ask the developed nations for a handout. Our mindset is very poor and quite disturbing. It stinks.

Just before and immediately after independence, we saw vans of information services going into all the remote areas to educate the masses on important lessons. The office of information is still alive but we don't see this mass education though the bigger number of our population resides in the rural areas and have a very obscured view of what their representatives in the parliament are supposed to do. My suggestion to the gov't is; instead of giving cars to Chiefs and Queens as a means of buying votes, (Which is a plain robbery) the information services must be re-equipped to teach the citizenry about what is meant by governance and the duty of a government. This is a way to make people aware of their worth in the country and thereby contributing to the nation's development effectively. Governments are afraid to make the people aware of their right in the country because their way of sucking the nation would be known by the poor illiterates living in the small towns.

My stomach churns when I read, listen or watch the news from Ghana. It’s mind boggling how a nation rich in mineral resources, fertile agricultural lands and a good number of academic elites, among others, is wallowing in economic hardships.
What went wrong in a country once the leading torch of Africa has often prompted me to ask the above question
